Dr. Gnecco serves as Senior Director and Associate Dean of University Enablement for Adtalem Global Education's Medical and Veterinary Education Division, supporting the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine (AUC), Ross University School of Medicine (RUSM), and Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM). He also holds faculty appointments as a Clinical Professor at AUC and an Associate Professor of Family Medicine at RUSM. In this role, Dr. Gnecco leads multi-campus academic enablement initiatives spanning curriculum and assessment support, faculty and student coaching, process optimization, and digital innovation—leveraging data and AI-enabled personalization to strengthen learner outcomes and expand access to training for diverse student populations.
Dr. Gnecco was born in New Jersey but spent his formative years in Lima and Tacna, Peru, before returning to the United States at age 12. His early exposure to diverse cultures and health care systems shaped his perspective and commitment to service. Both of Dr. Gnecco's parents worked in health care-related fields—his father as a chemical engineer and his mother as a nurse and public health administrator—and he acknowledges their positive influence and their example as drivers of his advancement.
Before progressing to his current role, Dr. Gnecco thrived in a series of key positions at the Ross University School of Medicine. Most recently, he was named the Associate Dean and held the rank of Associate Professor at the Academy for Teaching and Learning, beginning in 2024. From 2022 through 2024, he excelled as the Assistant Dean and an Associate Professor at the academy. Between 2023 and 2024, Dr. Gnecco concurrently served as the Founding Director at the Academy for Teaching and Learning at AUC.
From 2019 to 2022, Dr. Gnecco was the assistant chair and an associate professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the Ross University School of Medicine. He previously served as the medical director for the simulation center and clinical skills assessment from 2013 to 2022, where he played a pivotal role in advancing clinical training using high-fidelity simulation methodologies. Between 2013 and 2020, Dr. Gnecco served as the elective clerkship director and faculty member at the same institution, and he held the title of director of fourth-year electives from 2015 to 2019.
Since 2017, Dr. Gnecco has also served as the director and an associate professor at the Clinical Academy for Teaching and Learning at Ross University School of Medicine. Earlier in his career, he was the director of the fundamentals semester module and an assistant professor at Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica from 2010 to 2012. Dr. Gnecco began his postgraduate medical training as a resident physician in Family Medicine at Bryn Mawr Family Medicine Residency Program at Bryn Mawr Hospital with Main Line Health from 2006 to 2009, after completing his internship and an additional year of residency training in emergency medicine at Albert Einstein Medical Center (now Jefferson Health) in 2006.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts and Science with concentrations in English, Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior from the University of California, Davis, awarded in 1998. Dr. Gnecco earned a Doctor of Medicine Degree from Drexel University School of Medicine in 2003, and he is currently a Licensed Physician in the State of Florida.
Dr. Gnecco maintains membership in several professional organizations, including the Miami-Dade County Medical Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine. To remain current on industry trends and best practices and to build a robust network, Dr. Gnecco regularly taught clinical skills at the American College of Physicians (ACP) Internal Medicine National Conference.
Dr. Gnecco is honored to have forged enduring relationships with his patients, often making home visits and providing direct access via his personal cell phone to ensure optimal care. In medical education, he has led initiatives that significantly improved student performance on licensing exams, achieving double-digit increases in first-time pass rates. Additionally, Dr. Gnecco humbly accepted the Resident Teacher Award from the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine in 2009 and the Behavioral Sciences Resident Award from Main Line Health in 2008.
