ANNANDALE, NJ, January 19, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Orlando Ernesto Ballate has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Ballate is widely recognized for his transformative impact on the engineering and construction landscape, particularly in Ecuador, where he is known as the "Engineer of Dreams." Since 2021, he has served as the chief executive officer of CITY Engineering and Design PA and Related Companies. In this capacity, Mr. Ballate has overseen landmark projects, such as Jade, the most luxurious condominium in Quito, Ecuador, and the first earthquake-resistant building in the country to meet California standards. He is currently leading the construction of the Art of Jade, which will become the tallest building in Ecuador at 40 stories. Mr. Ballate's leadership style is defined by servant leadership and a commitment to uplifting individuals who have lost hope, helping them regain confidence and purpose.
From 2014 to 2021, Mr. Ballate was the executive vice president at The Falcon Group in Bridgewater, New Jersey, a leading engineering firm with 15 regional offices across the country. During his tenure, he contributed to high-profile industry discussions, including being featured in Focus Magazine's article "Aging U.S. Housing Stock" and providing expert commentary for CBS Tampa on the Surfside Condo collapse that same year.
Between 2011 and 2021, Mr. Ballate was a part-owner of PISO Express Constructores in Quito. Concurrently, from 2011 to 2014, he founded and managed O Energy LLC, where he demonstrated his entrepreneurial acumen by developing innovative solutions within the energy sector.
Mr. Ballate also founded Building Engineering, Management and Programming (BEMAP) Software International with operations in New York City and Chennai, India, from 2004 to 2012, where he was involved in a 3D facility management software. His inventive approach led to a patent for Modular Building with Force Protection in 2005 and BEMAP in 2008.
In 1996, Mr. Ballate co-founded and served as the president of O&S Associates Inc. in New York City until 2012. Under his guidance, the firm expanded its reach and influence across multiple markets, providing expert architectural, engineering and construction management services.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Ballate was a department manager at DESMAN in New York City from 1990 to 1996. He held the same title at CONRAD Associates (Construction Research and Development) in Chicago between 1985 and 1990. A significant milestone occurred when Mr. Ballate became vice president and project manager at Harza Engineering in Chicago in 1982 at just 23, a testament to his early leadership abilities. He began his professional journey as an industrial and robotic engineer at ExxonMobil Corporation in Chicago from 1978 to 1981, where he developed foundational skills that would inform his later achievements.
Mr. Ballate's academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering and a Master of Science in structural engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, earned in 1982 and 1984, respectively. Inspired by a high school teacher who mentored him for four years in architecture, Mr. Ballate's passion shifted toward understanding how structures are built rather than simply designing them. This led him to specialize further in structural engineering with an emphasis on seismic design. In addition to his degrees, Mr. Ballate furthered his education through credentials as a registered professional engineer in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida and many other states.
Apart from his work-related endeavors, Mr. Ballate's civic engagement includes serving on the structural integrity sub-committee and the legislative action committee for the Community Associations Institute's New Jersey chapter in 2021. He also supports Catholic Charities in Managua, Nicaragua. Earlier, the Ballate family was a supporter of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Neward, NJ.
Among his accolades, Mr. Ballate earned recognition for the Jade Highrise Mixed-Use Building, which was voted the Number One Luxury Condominium in Quito in 2014, reflecting both technical excellence and visionary design.
Throughout more than four decades of professional practice, Mr. Ballate has remained steadfastly committed to what he calls his "people project." At age 37, despite achieving material success, he faced profound personal challenges. He discovered that focusing on helping others was essential not only for their benefit but also for his own healing. This philosophy continues to guide Mr. Ballate's daily life as a strategic visionary and lifelong learner dedicated to making a positive difference.
