GETZVILLE, NY, January 22, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- James R. Frost has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Currently semi-retired after nearly five decades of success across multiple families, communities, and industries, Mr. Frost serves as the owner of Starr Business Services, Inc., a role he has held since 2004. In this capacity, he works with a select group of small- and medium-sized businesses and not-for-profits, providing executive coaching with a focus on developing exceptional leaders and guiding organizations through periods of problem solving transition.
Mr. Frost's approach to business initially mirrored his extensive experience at General Motors, emphasizing the use of technology to improve quality and productivity in manufacturing environments. Over time, he recognized that the true driver of organizational success lies in the development of people, prompting him to shift his focus toward nurturing and developing talent within organizations. During the economic downturn in 2009, he redirected his expertise to support nonprofit entities such as churches, youth sports and schools, offering guidance to help them navigate challenging circumstances and continue to thrive.
Alongside his endeavors at Starr Business Services, Mr. Frost served as chair for Vistage Worldwide, Inc. in the Buffalo-Niagara region from 2015 to 2018. In this leadership position, he facilitated peer advisory groups for chief executive officers and senior executives in the technology, health care and energy sectors, helping them address complex business challenges and enhance their leadership capabilities.
From 2014 to 2015, Mr. Frost was the general manager at MacLean Curtis, LLC in Buffalo-Niagara, where he oversaw operations for the automotive supplier and was part of the executive team responsible for the transition from Curtis Screw Automotive to MacLean Fogg. For half a decade, he held the position of general manager for Buffalo-based operations at Curtis Screw Co., LLC, where he was responsible for managing plant operations and consulted on continuous improvement initiatives.
Also sharing his industry knowledge with students pursuing business and management studies, Mr. Frost contributed to higher education as an adjunct professor at Medaille College from 2004 to 2012. Concurrently, he worked as a consultant for Insyte Consulting from 2005 to 2006, advising businesses on operational improvements, staff development and strategic planning.
Mr. Frost's earlier career includes more than 15 years of significant leadership roles at Delphi Automotive Systems. From 2000 to 2003, he served as the information technology director, overseeing change management and training projects that supported global manufacturing processes. As the director of production control and logistics from 1998 to 2000, he managed global supply chain operations and logistics functions. From 1988 to 1998, he held multiple positions including site manager, plant manager and quality director, where he led teams that were responsible for plant operations and quality assurance.
Prior to his tenure at Delphi Automotive, Mr. Frost excelled as the superintendent of manufacturing, engineering, maintenance and tooling at American Axle from 1978 to 1988. Throughout these roles, he demonstrated a commitment to organizational change management and team development.
Mr. Frost's most successful period at General Motors occurred during his final three years with the company, when he was tasked with leading organizational change and training for the enterprise resource planning system implementation. He assembled a high-performing team that executed critical transformations across multiple plants and divisions, resulting in significant operational success. However, he considers his greatest achievement to date to be his dedication to developing people — both professionally by coaching individuals to manage plant operations effectively and personally by nurturing the physical, spiritual and mental well-being of his sons.
Before venturing onto his vocational path at American Axle, Mr. Frost pursued higher education and earned a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in computer control from Stanford University in 1978. He also obtained a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Kettering University (formerly General Motors Institute) in 1977, which provided him with a strong technical foundation that supported his early career focus on leveraging technology within manufacturing environments.
Dedicated to the ideals of continuous learning, Mr. Frost further enhanced his qualifications through certification in chief executive officer development from Vistage as well as Six Sigma green belt certification. These credentials have enabled him to deliver high-impact coaching and process improvement solutions throughout the latter stages of his career.
Reflecting on his storied journey to date, Mr. Frost attributes much of his success to the values instilled by his parents — his father's emphasis on hard work and goal setting, complemented by his mother's encouragement toward education and intellectual growth — as well as the comprehensive training he received during his tenure at General Motors.
Civically engaged and a man of strong faith throughout his life, Mr. Frost has served as a small group leader at Eastern Hills Wesleyan Church since 2009 and remains an active member of Christian Business Leaders within his local church community. Additionally, he volunteered as a coach for Clarence Soccer for 20 years to teach young athletes the values of teamwork, health and discipline and continues to provide pro bono executive coaching services today.
Happily married and a proud father of three sons, Mr. Frost is a devoted family man who enjoys traveling as well as repairing things in his spare time. Looking toward the future, he remains committed to giving back through mentorship within his family, the business community and the church. He aims to assist his oldest son in launching a business while continuing to support his family's growth and sharing his experience with future generations, reflecting his longstanding legacy of helping others through everything he does.
