She earned a Doctor of Education in entrepreneurial education leadership from Johns Hopkins University School of Education in Baltimore in 2022. She completed her undergraduate studies at Converse College (now Converse University) in Spartanburg, South Carolina, in 1999, majoring in history and political science with a minor in women's studies and leadership.

Her credentials include a graduate certificate in administration certification from McDaniel College (2014), a graduate certificate in bilingual and special education from The George Washington University (2011), an early intervention leadership certificate from the Center for Teaching and Education at Johns Hopkins University (2010) and a professional studies certificate in early childhood education and teaching from Gallaudet University (2009). She is also certified by the University of Northern Colorado as a special educator specializing in students with severe needs and vision impairments.

Dr. Woodward attributes her achievements to the unwavering support of her family, whose belief in the value of education shaped her aspirations from an early age. The encouragement she received from both her parents and her spouse's family provided essential motivation throughout her academic pursuits, particularly during her doctoral studies.

Her civic engagement is extensive. Dr. Woodward served as a committee member for Communities United Against Hate, an advisory board member for Connections Beyond Sight and Sound, a committee member for the African American Student Achievement Action Group, and co-facilitated the Young Adult Enrichment Program at Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind from 2009 to 2012. She is also a supporter of domestic violence facilities.
