RARITAN, NJ, January 29, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ankit Kalani has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Kalani is a distinguished expert in thermal design and engineering. In late 2025, he assumed the role of Director of Hardware Development at AMD in New Jersey, where he leads a thermal engineering organization of 40 personnel, including seven direct reports. He oversees all aspects of thermal engineering for server platforms and collaborates closely with mechanical, electrical, power, and firmware/software teams. His work includes the design and advancement of complex thermal solutions such as heat sinks and cold plates. Under Dr. Kalani's leadership, server components consistently operate within stringent thermal specifications, supported by optimized fan-speed control and cooling strategies that prevent both overheating and overcooling.

Before joining AMD, Dr. Kalani excelled as the thermal development manager at ZT Systems from 2022 to 2025, leading initiatives to enhance the efficiency and reliability of data center hardware through innovative cooling strategies. His responsibilities included managing cross-functional teams and implementing best practices in thermal management for high-performance computing systems. Concurrently, between 2020 and 2023, he served as a senior staff thermal engineer with ZT Systems, helping develop next-generation server platforms by advancing liquid cooling technologies and refining airflow management techniques.

Between 2018 and 2020, Dr. Kalani thrived as a staff thermal engineer at ZT Systems, collaborating on the design and validation of thermal solutions for enterprise hardware and partnering with product development teams to ensure compliance with industry standards. Dr. Kalani initiated his affiliation with the firm as a thermal engineer in 2016, focusing on the foundational aspects of heat transfer analysis and component-level cooling design and forging the foundation for his subsequent advancements within the organization.

In 2015, Dr. Kalani gained industry experience as a research and development intern at GE Global Research. This role provided him with exposure to large-scale engineering projects and further honed his skills in experimental design and data analysis. Earlier in his career, Dr. Kalani was an entrepreneurial lead at Arka Solutions from 2011 to 2012, where he explored innovative approaches to engineering challenges and developed leadership capabilities that would serve him throughout his professional life.

Throughout his career, Dr. Kalani has been recognized for his commitment to making a tangible difference beyond technical achievements. Among his most meaningful accomplishments is his involvement with Recover Rochester during graduate school. Collaborating with a dedicated team, he worked tirelessly to combat food waste by collecting surplus food from campus dining areas and distributing it to local soup kitchens and coaches. Serving primarily as the driver for the operation over two years, Dr. Kalani helped save about 15,000 lbs worth of food—a contribution he regards as profoundly impactful on both his life and career.

Exceptional academic credentials further define Dr. Kalani's presence in the field. He earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Mumbai in 2009. Subsequently, he studied at the Rochester Institute of Technology, first completing a Master of Science in mechanical engineering in 2012 and serving as a teaching assistant in support of faculty. Dr. Kalani also proudly earned a Doctor of Philosophy in microsystem engineering in 2016. Notably, he accepted a graduate research assistantship in 2012 and conducted pioneering research in microsystem engineering and heat transfer phenomena through graduation.

Dr. Kalani attributes much of his success to hard work, perseverance, and productive mentorship. His academic advisor, Dr. Kandlikar, offered exceptional guidance during graduate studies, and Dr. Mark Steinke, the principal thermal architect at Nvidia, has become an important mentor more recently. He further expresses deep gratitude to the leaders at AMD/ZT systems and to his exceptionally dedicated team, whose collaboration, trust, and technical excellence continue to elevate his success and impact as a leader. The encouragement Dr. Kalani received from his parents and sister in India—who maintain daily contact despite great distance—and his wife's unwavering support have also proven instrumental in his advancement.

Dr. Kalani is a prolific scholar and has published widely in prestigious trade journals. His articles include "Combining Liquid Inertia with Pressure Recovery from Bubble Expansion for Enhanced Flow Boiling," disseminated by AIP Publishing in 2015, and the Journal of Heat Transfer has published several of his works, including "Evaluation of Pressure Drop Performance during Enhanced Flow Boiling in Open Microchannels with Tapered Manifolds" from 2014, "Enhanced Pool Boiling with Ethanol at Subatmospheric Pressures for Electronics Cooling," dating to 2013, and "Enhanced Flow Boiling over Open Microchannels with Uniform and Tapered Gap Manifolds," also from 2013. Dr. Kalani was also acknowledged for his innovations through a National Science Foundation Innovation Corps Grant in 2012.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Dr. Kalani pursues opportunities for civic engagement through involvement with Foodlink, Habitat for Humanity York Region, Community FoodBank of New Jersey and Recover Rochester. To achieve balance, he consumes between 50 and 80 audiobooks a year across genres such as philosophy, autobiography, and science fiction and nonfiction. He also enjoys hiking with his wife and spending time in nature. Looking toward the future, Dr. Kalani intends to continue making meaningful contributions wherever he is involved, guided by a philosophy centered on continuous improvement, never resting on past accomplishments and always striving for greater impact inspired by leaders who focus on future challenges rather than previous successes.
