WALHALLA, SC, January 29, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Hank A. Laskey, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Laskey currently serves as the chief executive officer and chief scientist at CAMResearch LLC, a role he has held since 2002. Under his leadership, the company has become recognized for its innovative approach to cultivating medicinal plants in diverse environments, including forests, fields and greenhouses. He oversees the extraction of essential oils from specific plant parts — roots, stalks, leaves, flowers and seeds — and directs the analysis of these extracts for potential product development through affiliated companies. He manages a team of six permanent employees and coordinates seasonal staff to support increased workloads during peak periods.
Prior to his tenure at CAMResearch, Dr. Laskey was a special assistant to the dean at Fairleigh Dickinson University's graduate school of pharmaceutical and chemical studies from 2002 to 2003. In this capacity, he contributed to academic program development and provided strategic guidance on curriculum enhancements.
From 1999 until 2003, Dr. Laskey served as the director of the Master of Business Administration program in pharmaceutical and chemical studies at Fairleigh Dickinson University's Silberman College of Business. His most significant achievement during this period was securing accreditation for the program from the Allied Schools of Business — a critical milestone for business schools nationwide. Demonstrating a forward-thinking approach, he pioneered distance learning by traveling weekly to major pharmaceutical companies, and he established studios within corporate offices along the Delaware River Valley to deliver Master of Business Administration courses directly to employees, positioning the program as an industry leader in remote education.
Before entering academia, Dr. Laskey worked at Hunt-Wesson Foods, overseeing production operations, following his time at J.P. Stevens & Co., where he managed textile manufacturing plants that produced substrate materials for circuit boards and camouflage netting for military applications. In this capacity, he applied effective cost-reduction strategies and managed unbudgeted expenditures with precision.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Laskey joined Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company as a senior engineer, a position in which he oversaw five can manufacturing plants and implemented cost-saving measures that reduced annual budgets by approximately $3 million per facility. He began his professional journey as a licensed insurance agent, working alongside his father.
Laying the foundation for Dr. Laskey's accomplishments was his academic background, which began with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Clemson University in 1979. He subsequently earned a Master of Science in operations research from the same institution in 1983, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy in marketing from the University of Georgia Terry College of Business in 1988, where his dissertation focused on the effectiveness of television advertising.
A formative influence on Dr. Laskey's career was his mentorship under Dr. Reg Pinder during his undergraduate studies. This experience ignited his passion for terpenes and plant-based chemistry after he successfully synthesized intermediol from corn for his senior research project — a process that required perseverance and innovation under Dr. Pinder's guidance.
Throughout his career, Dr. Laskey has maintained active memberships in several professional organizations, including the American Chemical Society, the American Marketing Association, and the Pharma & Biopharma Outsourcing Association. His expertise has led to invitations to speak at major corporations and industry conferences worldwide, and he has also developed specialized courses for prominent companies such as Bayer, Johnson & Johnson and Schering-Plough.
Outside his primary endeavors, Dr. Laskey is recognized as a J.E. Sirrine Foundation Fellow and has published approximately 20 peer-reviewed journal articles along with numerous proceedings. His most notable publication is "The Global Pharmaceutical Industry: Economic Structure, Government Regulation, and History," released by Xlibris US in 2019 — a comprehensive examination of the evolution of the global pharmaceutical sector following World War II when German patents were converted into public property by allied forces. The book has attracted interest from filmmakers who are exploring its adaptation into a series.
Looking ahead, Dr. Laskey aims to distill essential elements from his work by expanding cultivation efforts for medicinal plants such as Calendula officinalis — praised since ancient times for its healing properties — and developing new manufactured products through enhanced laboratory facilities and retail operations.
