NEW YORK, NY, January 29, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to honor Frank Mann with inclusion in Who's Who in the World. An accomplished listee, Mr. Mann celebrates many years' experience in his professional network and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Mann, an esteemed artist, educator and writer, has established a distinguished career marked by significant contributions to the visual arts and education. Born in Washington, D.C., he demonstrated artistic talent from a young age, with early encouragement from teachers who recognized his unique abilities. This early support set the foundation for a lifelong dedication to exploring vision and visual perception through art.
Throughout his career, Mr. Mann has been recognized as an expert in visual art, painting and drawing. As a recognized New York City-based painter, draughtsman and printmaker, he remains professionally associated with Frank Mann Studio in New York. His research into structural color, specifically the mechanisms by which the fine structures of colored transparent substances produce iridescent colors found in nature, has been widely recognized as groundbreaking in the field of visual perception. Notably, Mr. Mann developed a model illustrating these mechanisms and presented six major groups of paintings reflecting this research.
Mr. Mann's professional path is distinguished by numerous guest lectureships at prominent institutions worldwide for more than two decades, beginning in the late 1970s at Corcoran College of Art in Washington, D.C. Over the years, he served as a guest lecturer at more than 15 institutions, studios and other locations, including Pratt Institute, Parsons School Art & Design, the Presbyterian Collegiate Church Center, the New Arts Program Exhibition Space, and Palazzo Barbarigo Minotto. More recently, Mr. Mann served as a guest lecturer for Oculus: A Litany of Acknowledgements at Scuola Grande of San Teodoro in Venice, Italy, in 2025.
Beyond his numerous guest lecturer positions, Mr. Mann served as the executive director of Collaborative Projects Inc. in New York from 1986 to 1988, was the executive director of Basicarts Network between 1989 and 1991, and held visiting artist positions with Children's Friends for Life and Coalition for the Homeless Camp, both based in New York, in 1997. He also served as a visiting artist for Art Works 4 Charity in New York from 2016 to 2019 and contributed to Thorn in Los Angeles in 2019. Mr. Mann has been a contributor to Visual Aids in New York and to the Association D'Aides in Paris since 2009.
Mr. Mann's academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science from High Point University in 1972, followed by a Bachelor of Arts from The George Washington University in 1978. He also pursued coursework in art history at Columbia University in 1980, further enriching his understanding of artistic traditions and critical analysis. In 1981, Mr. Mann earned a Master of Fine Arts from Pratt Institute, an achievement that provided him with advanced technical skills and conceptual frameworks essential for his later work. Additionally, his participation in the Whitney Graduate Seminars at The Whitney Museum of American Art in New York from 1980 to 1982 exposed him to leading contemporary artists and thinkers, deepening his engagement with modern art discourse. These seminars were followed by an internship with Dorothea Rockburne in New York in 1986, which offered direct mentorship from an influential figure in the field, shaping his approach to both practice and pedagogy.
Beyond academia, Mr. Mann has contributed significantly to various organizations dedicated to the arts and social causes. He holds memberships with several industry-related organizations, such as honorary associate membership in the Accademia Italia in Arte nel Mondo Associazione Culturale in Lecce, Italy, the Association D'Art International, in Mirabel, France, the Americans for the Arts, the Contemporary Artists Guild in New York, and, among others, the Federation of Modern Painters and Sculptors of New York.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Mr. Mann has engaged civically as a U.S. representative for major international art events, including The Venice International Phoenix Prize for the Arts, the Effetto Arte Foundation, the Scuola Grande San Teodoro in Venice, and collateral events associated with multiple editions of the Venice Biennale.

Furthermore, Mr. Mann has collaborated with multiple non-profit cultural organizations.
Mr. Mann is also an accomplished author with works including "Then and Now: The American Society of Contemporary Artists," published in New York in 2012, a book chapter titled 'Top Fifty Fearless Leaders: Stories of Resilience, Strength Perseverance & Passion,' Volume One, published in 2022, and numerous professional publications. Currently, Mr. Mann is involved in a film project about a former colleague, where production is ongoing.

Throughout his career, Mr. Mann has collaborated with many individuals who have influenced his approach, underscoring the importance of shared experience within artistic practice, a principle evident across his multifaceted career achievements, honors, civic involvement, scholarly contributions and enduring impact on contemporary visual art worldwide. His perspective on artistic achievement is shaped by his belief that no single work or moment defines an artist's legacy, a sentiment informed by decades spent contributing meaningfully across disciplines, exhibitions, publications, research initiatives and educational forums worldwide. When reflecting on his career, Mr. Mann does not identify a singular highlight or defining moment; instead, he views his work as an ongoing process in which each stage builds on prior experiences, leading to continual growth and new creative outcomes.
