PLATTSMOUTH, NE, January 30, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cheri A. Dunn has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Dunn's career with UnitedHealthcare began in February 2005 and concluded in June 2025. Most recently serving as a Senior Claims Business Process Analyst from January 2020 to June 2025 - the culmination of two decades with the company - she built a distinguished career in health care operations. In her final role, she applied her extensive expertise in claims processing and cross-functional collaboration to research, identify root causes, and remediate both member and provider Complaints to Medicare. This work required her to adapt her communication style to better serve elderly Medicare members, demonstrating her commitment to clarity and member comprehension, while simultaneously maintaining the technical precision required for providers and CMS. Each party received a thorough synopsis of the processes verified, the remediations completed, and ownership of any errors when applicable. Her communication style remained concise, informative, and tailored to each audience.
From December 2010 to January 2020, Ms. Dunn excelled as a subject matter expert in the Provider Appeals and Disputes unit at UnitedHealthcare. As one of only two individuals retained during a major reorganization, she played a vital role in training offshore teams in Hyderabad, India, and collaborating with other subject matter experts, many of whom she had trained, to ensure widespread understanding of intricate processes. Her leadership in guiding teams through backward analysis of workflows resulted in numerous accolades for outstanding team achievements as well as individual recognition from senior leadership.
In this capacity, she was also pivotal in onboarding and training new subject matter experts, exceeding expectations during a significant team expansion in January 2020. Her responsibilities included ensuring that new team members mastered complex processes and upheld high standards of accuracy and compliance. When the department underwent restructuring, Ms. Dunn volunteered to transition to the Medicare Complaints division, embracing a new set of challenges and responsibilities as described above.
In January 2010, Ms. Dunn joined the Medicare Advantage Provider Dispute Unit, where she contributed to establishing new operational structures and supported the transition of responsibilities to offshore teams. Working within a newly created role, her expertise proved essential during this period of organizational change.
During her nearly two years in Medicare Advantage Field Services, Ms. Dunn resolved member concerns and managed projects aimed at optimizing personal cost obligations for members transitioning from legacy plans to new offerings. Responsible for manual adjustments and quality reviews that identified process deficiencies, she improved workload balance across her team and positioned them for long-term success.
From October 2007 to February 2008, Ms. Dunn served on the Core Operations Reports and Rework (CORR) team at UnitedHealthcare, where she supported the launch of a group focused on compliance with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations and coordinated benefit updates. She also developed process documentation that became foundational for subsequent training and mentorship programs, further extending her leadership influence throughout the company.
Ms. Dunn's tenure as a Medicare Advantage processor for the Dual Special Needs Plan from February 2005 to October 2007 equipped her with valuable expertise in coordinating Medicare and Medicaid benefits. She maintained an exemplary quality record during her first four years with the company and advanced quickly due to her analytical strengths and commitment to continuous learning.
Prior to joining UnitedHealthcare, Ms. Dunn served as a Computer Information Systems Associate at Lake Region Healthcare Corporation in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, from April 1995 to December 1999. This early experience provided foundational skills in information systems that later supported her transition into health care operations.
Before beginning her vocational path, Ms. Dunn earned an associate degree in criminal justice with a focus on law enforcement administration from Normandale Community College in Bloomington, Minnesota, graduating with a perfect grade point average in 1989. This early interest in criminal justice influenced both her personal life and professional outlook; although she did not pursue a career directly in law enforcement, she applied these principles in her personal life by supporting young people in her community, most notably by providing stability for one of her son's friends during a difficult period.
Reflecting on her journey, Ms. Dunn attributes much of her success to the guidance of her father, Clinton A. Trenholm (2/8/1929 - 1/5/2009), who instilled in her the values of kindness, compassion, and self-reliance. With his encouragement, she pursued stable employment that would provide security for herself and her children. As a single parent facing significant challenges, including caring for a child with severe allergies, she demonstrated resilience and perseverance while balancing work and family responsibilities.
Known for her extensive civic involvement, Ms. Dunn has volunteered with Bellevue Eagles since 2014, participating in community service activities and organizing raffles to support the club's longstanding mission of helping others. For 10 years, she also took part in community parades such as the Arrows to Aerospace Celebration. Her commitment to public service began early; she was a police explorer for six years starting at age 14, later serving as an advisor until the birth of her youngest son.
A proud mother of two sons and grandmother of five, Ms. Dunn enjoys reading, going on walks, and spending time with her Bernese Mountain Dogs, Alfie Bear and Rexy Roo. Following spinal surgery that resolved complications affecting her mobility, she developed a renewed appreciation for physical activity and created a bucket list of personal goals centered on meaningful experiences with her family, including time with her grandchildren, and embracing life's opportunities as she approaches retirement.
Throughout her career, Ms. Dunn has been recognized for her dedication to supporting the growth of others and her deep understanding of complex operational environments, a distinguished legacy shaped by personal values, professional excellence, and unwavering commitment to service.
