BOERNE, TX, January 30, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Donna Provencher, M.A., has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Provencher has established herself as a multifaceted professional, excelling as a journalist, actor, director, activist and advocate for autism and mental health, consent education and disability inclusion in the arts. Her expertise in these fields is widely recognized, and her career reflects a commitment to both creative expression and social impact.
Currently, Ms. Provencher is engaged as a freelance journalist, a role she has held since 2022. In this capacity, she has contributed to prominent publications such as The Washington Post and Huffington Post, addressing critical issues including gun legislation reform and mental health awareness. Her freelance work builds upon an extensive journalism career spanning a decade.
In 2025, Ms. Provencher served as newsletter editor for SATXToday via 6AM City, where she curated content and managed editorial direction for a broad readership. From 2023 to 2024, she was the director of media relations for Save Samuels. In this pivotal position, she played an instrumental role in restoring funding to the Samuels Public Library in Front Royal, Virginia. Her leadership in managing press attention and crafting communications was recognized with the organization's receipt of the Virginia Library of the Year Presidential Citation from the Virginia Library Association. This achievement stands as one of her most notable professional milestones.
From 2021 to 2022, Ms. Provencher worked as an innovation reporter at the San Antonio Business Journal, covering developments in technology and business within Texas. Prior to this, she was a marketing writer for the San Antonio Express-News from 2017 to 2021, where she also served as interim letters editor and editorialist during Hurricane Harvey in 2017. Her editorials on prison reform during this period contributed to public discourse on human rights in Texas prisons.
Between 2020 and 2021, Ms. Provencher was a political reporter for The American Independent, navigating a dynamic political landscape and reporting on significant national events like the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2020 election. In 2020, she also contributed as a news reporter for the Hill Country Community Journal.
Her earlier roles include staff reporter, columnist and interim opinion editor at the Kerrville Daily Times from 2018 to 2019. Ms. Provencher began her professional journalism journey as a digital editor, staff writer and columnist at the Watertown Daily Times from 2016 to 2017. During this time, she covered major events such as the first Trump inauguration and the Women's March.
Ms. Provencher's dedication extends beyond journalism into advocacy and nonprofit work. In 2023, she directed communications for Save Samuels, successfully elevating their cause to national and international prominence amid challenges related to LGBTQ materials in libraries. She is also co-founder of Dinah's Voice, a nonprofit supporting victims on Catholic university campuses and has volunteered with New York's Stop Abuse Campaign. She has also actively lobbied for reforms in sexual assault and harassment policies within the Central Texas theater community.
Her passion for theater is equally distinguished. As an actor and director active in both community and professional settings, Ms. Provencher has received numerous accolades, including the Alamo Theatre Arts Council's Globe award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy in San Antonio in 2021. She has earned state-level directing awards such as the Cliff Smith Award for Excellence in Directing from the Maryland Community Theatre Festival Association and Excellence in Directing from the Theatre Association of New York State, as well as Runner-Up: Outstanding Production from the Eastern States Theater Association. She has directed over 25 productions including "The Wedding Singer," "Legally Blonde," and Agatha Christie's "The Mousetrap." She is currently performing in "Sweat" at Playhouse 2000 in Kerrville and will next direct "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" in Boerne this summer.
A vocal advocate for disability inclusion in the arts, Ms. Provencher incorporates her experiences as an autistic individual with ADHD into her teaching and directing practices. She frequently participates in interviews discussing autism visibility and disability inclusivity within artistic spaces.
Ms. Provencher's academic background includes a Master of Arts in English and drama from The Catholic University of America in Washington D.C., graduating summa cum laude in 2010. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from Christendom College in Front Royal, Virginia, graduating summa cum laude in 2006.
Her commitment to storytelling began at age 6 with acting; by 19, Ms. Provencher was directing theater productions. This lifelong passion informs both her creative pursuits and her approach to journalism: using narrative power to drive social change. A particularly meaningful moment occurred when an individual who had spent over two decades incarcerated credited her editorial writing with helping spur improvements in prison conditions.
Ms. Provencher's civic involvement includes serving as marketing chair for the Wimberley Players Board of Directors since 2025 and a Board of Governors member with fundraising responsibilities at Boerne Community Theatre from 2024 to 2025. She has also volunteered as a teacher for theater arts classes at Boerne Community Theatre's elementary school program and taught Shakespeare in central Texas classrooms for the Classic Theatre of San Antonio.
In addition to her theater accolades, Ms. Provencher's journalistic work has been recognized with numerous awards, including Texas Associated Press Managing Editors Star Reporter of the Year (Class A) award and 2018 and 2019 First Place honors in General Column Writing, as well as West Texas Press Association Journalist of the Year 2018 and first-place honors in features and column writing. She is also a Carmage Walls national commentary award semifinalist. She credits her resilience and determination, focusing on capabilities rather than limitations, as key factors shaping her success across multiple disciplines.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Ms. Provencher is devoted to her three sons. She enjoys spending time with family, reading, writing creative nonfiction, caring for pets, and watching films. Looking ahead, she aspires to establish an inclusive theater company prioritizing neurodivergent individuals and those with sensory sensitivities while pursuing further academic study toward a Doctor of Philosophy in clinical psychology to enhance her advocacy work within the autism community. She also seeks opportunities to return to full-time opinion journalism with established legacy outlets.
