Dr. Joseph has established herself in both academia and research, marked by more than three decades of professional experience. Since 2025, she has served as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry within the Alamo Colleges District, where she teaches organic chemistry and is recognized for her extensive expertise in the field. Over the past decade in this role, Dr. Joseph has been instrumental in engaging students through innovative research projects and honors symposia, fostering a dynamic learning environment that encourages scientific inquiry.

Before her current appointment, Dr. Joseph served as an instructor in the Alamo Colleges District from 2016 to 2024. During this period, she contributed significantly to curriculum development and student mentorship, helping to solidify her reputation as a dedicated educator. Earlier in her career, Dr. Joseph held research positions at Case Western Reserve University and the University of Michigan. These roles allowed her to expand her research portfolio, particularly in cancer research, drug development, drug discovery and bone-related studies. Her excellence in the field allowed her to represent her institutions at national and international conferences.

Dr. Joseph began her research journey after completing her extensive education. She earned Bachelor of Science degree in 1992 followed by Master of Science degree (Organic Chemistry) in 1994 from Calicut University, Kerala, India. She then received a Doctor of Philosophy in Biochemistry from Mahatma Gandhi University, India, in 2001, followed by postdoctoral research at the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru between 2001 and 2003, an experience that opened opportunities for her subsequent work in the U.S.

Throughout her career, Dr. Joseph has been actively involved with professional organizations, such as the American Chemical Society. She also serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Ethnopharmacology, where she evaluates manuscripts for publication based on their scientific merit. Dr. Joseph's authority as a reviewer reflects her standing within the scientific community and her commitment to advancing research standards. Her research work has notably resulted in numerous publications in high-impact journals, such as Nature Communications, Blood Journal and the Journal of Clinical Investigation, and has garnered over 3,300 citations on Google Scholar, underscoring the impact and relevance of her contributions to the scientific community.

Currently, Dr. Joseph collaborates with Texas A&M University at San Antonio on a WaTR3 grant funded by the National Science Foundation. Additionally, she serves as a judge for science fairs and honors symposiums featuring students from various universities and colleges across San Antonio.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Dr. Joseph is committed to civic engagement and community service. She volunteers with church activities, supports Alzheimer's initiatives, contributes to palliative care centers and participates in employee give-back programs.

Dr. Joseph maintains an active presence outside academia through creative endeavors, including making educational videos for her YouTube channel and developing a website dedicated to student success in chemistry. Looking ahead, she is focused on developing new courses and designing resources that help students excel in chemistry. Dr. Joseph is also currently collaborating with colleagues to integrate artificial intelligence technologies into academic programs while seeking innovative ways to enhance student engagement.
