Mr. MacRae's work is grounded in professional maritime training and credentials. He holds a United States Coast Guard Master license (100 Ton) and has maintained long-standing sailing instructor credentials through the American Sailing Association, serving as an ASA instructor since 2008. These qualifications reflect his commitment to safety, seamanship, and consistent standards across instruction and charter operations. Mr. MacRae is also a member of the Santa Barbara Yacht Club.

From 2002 to 2022, Mr. MacRae built his professional foundation at the Santa Barbara Sailing Center, where he held long-term leadership roles in charter operations and captaining. During this tenure, he served as Master on Record and supported charter management and fleet operations in a high-volume charter environment. He also captained the 85-foot yacht Channel Cat for Charlie Munger, an experience that further shaped his standards for professionalism, discretion, and service.

In 2021, Mr. and Mrs. MacRae acquired a 1976 Fuji 35 and led a comprehensive transformation of the vessel, elevating its condition, onboard presentation, and overall charter readiness. Following the launch of charters aboard the restored yacht, Kelpie, in October 2022, SunSwept Sailing experienced rapid growth and became widely recognized for delivering a refined "classic yacht" sailing experience in Santa Barbara.

In parallel with charter operations, Mr. MacRae expanded into yacht sales and brokerage. From 2022 to 2024, he served with Seacoast Yachts, strengthening his expertise in yacht brokerage and client advisory. In 2025, he joined Santa Barbara Yacht Sales as a yacht broker, guiding clients through listings, evaluations, negotiations, and purchase decisions while applying hands-on knowledge of vessel systems, performance, and ownership considerations. His combined background in operations and sales enables him to advise clients with a practical understanding of both acquisition and real-world use.
