Since 2006, he has been the owner and medical doctor at Dr. Irwin Abraham, where he specializes in treating adult patients with chronic injuries. He is renowned for his expertise in therapy for back and neck pain, often succeeding where others have not due to his extensive knowledge and commitment to patient care. He sees patients three days per week, addressing their pain complaints and meticulously charting their progress.

Prior to establishing his current practice, Dr. Abraham owned a private medical practice in Rochester, New York, from 1976 to 2005. During this time, he also managed an internal medicine practice from 1992 to 1994. His tenure at SM Hospital in Rockford, New York, from 1978 to 1992 saw him serve as the chairman of the medical audit committee before transitioning to the quality assurance committee. His early career included a role at a private practice clinic in Rockford from 1976 to 1978.

Dr. Abraham's professional journey is marked by his dedication to education and mentorship. From 1992 to 2004, he trained physicians and nurse practitioners through three annual courses and conducted 35 courses for physical therapists. His involvement with the American Association for Orthopedic Medicine as a board member from 1999 to 2008 further underscores his commitment to advancing orthopedic medicine.

To prepare for a career in medicine, Dr. Abraham earned a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry from The University of Chicago in 1968, followed by a Doctor of Medicine from the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California in 1972. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx, New York, where he served as chief medical resident during his fourth year. His education and residency were pivotal in shaping his approach to patient care, emphasizing individualized treatment.

Dr. Abraham's contributions extend beyond clinical practice into civic engagement and scholarly work. He has provided pro bono medical services to underinsured patients and authored several articles on orthopedic medicine, including "What Causes Low Back Pain," published in 2002. His writings have appeared in the Journal of Orthopaedic Medicine, reflecting his commitment to sharing knowledge within the medical community.

Outside his professional life, Dr. Abraham enjoys ballroom dancing with his wife, particularly waltz and salsa, as well as taking softball lessons and staying active through training. Looking ahead, he plans to continue working while learning new skills to better assist patients and teaching others in the field. He is nearing completion of a newspaper article on the importance of vaccinations, demonstrating his ongoing dedication to public health education.
