As a senior executive, Mr. Kurian has contributed his expertise to major consulting firms such as PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Oliver Wyman, EY, AT Kearney, IBM, etc. as well as led several transformation projects in North America, Middle East and Asia region. His organization is also supporting ERP enablement projects and is very strong in SAP S4/HANA implementation support projects. He believes that systems are enablers to the function, and implementing the systems properly has a big role to play in delivering functional excellence. From 2011 to 2016, Mr. Kurian served in a corporate role at Chevron as Global Category Manager, overseeing drilling and completions, well construction commodities, and rotating equipment, including gas turbines. He led a global team of 15+ professionals across more than 16 business units and delivered approximately $435 million in annual savings, representing a 32% cost reduction. During this period, he pioneered an initiative within Chevron's upstream business that set new industry benchmarks and was later adopted by several major international oil companies. This achievement was publicly recognized by Chevron's CEO during a Wall Street presentation in 2015–2016. Mr. Kurian used a unique methodology to achieve this result and was first of its kind in the industry for this category.
Before joining Chevron, Mr. Kurian held a series of roles at ConocoPhillips including Global Material Manager, Contracts Specialist, Buyer, Inventory Specialist, etc. for nine plus years. In these positions, he managed global responsibilities across upstream, downstream and midstream operations, developing comprehensive supply chain solutions that supported the company's international footprint, with heavy focus in compliance, optimization and excellence across 24+ business units worldwide.
During the years of 2000 to 2007, Mr. Kurian worked in the Middle East holding the roles of a commercial manager, mechanical engineer and purchase engineer supporting major NOCs (i.e. ADNOC Group companies), supported onshore and offshore oil and gas operations and gained valuable experience in engineering procurement and oil and gas sector. His professional journey began with materials management internship at Kochi Refineries Limited (currently known as BPCL) in India from 2000 to 2001.
Throughout his career, Mr. Kurian has been recognized for his ability to deliver significant value to organizations through innovative problem-solving and strategic leadership. Notably, through ExCOMATIX, his team has collaborated with several major IOCs, NOCs, EPC companies, Chemical and Fertilizer companies and Oil field Services companies (names are confidential) to generate more than $80 million in value over the most recent 5 years by implementing transformative supply chain solutions within procurement, category management, inventory optimization, material planning and coordination, MRP control, investment recovery enablement, warehouse management & logistics management.
