NEW YORK, NY, February 06, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Michelle Roit has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Roit has established herself in the classroom as a Spanish educator with the New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE), New York City Public Schools, since 2005. Over the course of more than two decades, she has demonstrated exceptional expertise in Spanish language instruction, earning recognition for her commitment to student engagement and cultural enrichment. For example, she cultivated outside partnerships with teaching artists like flamenco groups to teach the art of flamenco to her middle school students due to her passion for Spain. The groups had a several-month residency and then the students would put on a recital for the families. A lover of the performing arts as well as a singer, dancer, and song writer, Ms. Roit utilizes these talents daily in her lessons with her students. She helps them to more easily remember vocabulary by re-writing popular songs and switching the original lyrics to the current Spanish vocabulary curriculum. She is well-known throughout the school system for this unique and effective approach. Other teachers can also often be heard singing her songs.

In addition to her primary teaching responsibilities, Ms. Roit served as an English as a new language coordinator for New York City Public Schools from 2022 to 2025. In this capacity, she played a pivotal role in supporting multilingual learners and developing inclusive curricula that addressed diverse classroom needs.

Ms. Roit was also a program manager at Asphalt Green, a nonprofit health and wellness organization dedicated to providing all New York residents with the opportunity to achieve healthy lives through sports and fitness. From 2021 to 2024, she oversaw youth development programs and contributed to organizational growth through innovative leadership. Ms. Roit's tenure at Asphalt Green began earlier, in 2013, as a division leader, during which she managed teams and coordinated activities to foster personal growth among participants.

Between 2006 and 2009, Ms. Roit earned international experience as an English teacher at TECS in Cádiz, Spain. This role allowed her to refine her instructional techniques while immersing herself in Spanish culture, an experience that further solidified her expertise in Spanish language education.

Ms. Roit's academic background has been instrumental in shaping her professional journey. She initially earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in early childhood education and teaching from the University at Buffalo in 2002, equipping her with the essential skills to engage young learners. She also studied at the University of Sevilla after college for a year where she learned about Spanish history and culture later using it in the classroom. Subsequently, Ms. Roit received a master's degree in Spanish language teacher education and English as a second language from New York University in 2005. This advanced training provided her with the pedagogical foundation necessary for effective language instruction and curriculum development.

Beyond her professional commitments, Ms. Roit is actively involved in civic organizations. She is a member of Pi Lambda Theta, an honor society dedicated to advancing education professionals. Previously, she served as an Epic Committee member of the American Camp Association Inc., from 2023 to 2024, contributing to initiatives that promote positive camp experiences for youth nationwide.

Among Ms. Roit's most notable achievements as an NYCDOE employee was founding the Latin Student Union, an initiative she launched by securing a $4,000 grant from the city and an additional $1,500 from the Parent Teacher Association. Through this program, she recruited students who had never traveled to Washington, D.C., and led a group of 20 on a two-night educational trip. Ms. Roit actively involved students in planning the itinerary, ensuring their interests were represented by visiting prominent landmarks, exploring Hispanic neighborhoods reminiscent of New York's Harlem and attending Spanish-language performances. The group also visited the Mexican Cultural Institute, further broadening their cultural perspectives.

Throughout her career, she has credited her success to the unwavering support of her family and teachers, whose encouragement has been vital to her achievements and ongoing dedication to education. Looking ahead, Ms. Roit aims to establish a language immersion camp that will further expand opportunities for cultural exchange and language acquisition among students.
