NEW ORLEANS, LA, February 10, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Piroska Pika Sdrougias has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Sdrougias, a self employed health care consultant since 2024, has held senior leadership roles across major hospitals, physician groups, and state and national provider associations. Her recognized expertise includes negotiating health plan contracts for hospitals and physicians, improving contract financial performance, and ensuring compliance with provider manuals and state laws governing claims payments. She has provided influential testimony before the Louisiana Legislature and chaired multiple statewide provider advisory task forces focused on balance billing, prompt payment statutes, timely claims processing, reducing denials, and limiting retroactive recoupments by health plans. She also testified before the National Council of Insurance Legislators, further establishing her as a respected voice in health care policy.

One of her most significant accomplishments occurred during her tenure at East Jefferson General Hospital, while chairing Louisiana's first statewide Provider Advisory Task Force. She led negotiations resulting in the passage of the 2003 Consumer Billing and Disclosure Protection Act, which established clear disclosure requirements by health plans to reduce patient confusion via mandated verbiage on final bills confirming amounts owed by patients. The law also prohibited contracted providers from billing patients more than they agreed to be paid by contract. She traveled with the sponsoring legislator to 10 cities across Louisiana to educate stakeholders on the new law.

During Hurricane Katrina, East Jefferson General Hospital was one of only three hospitals that remained open. Escorted by state troopers to the state capital, Ms. Sdrougias advocated for urgent needs and ran an off site command center coordinating critical medical, food, and supply deliveries. She also coordinated media efforts to bring displaced medical staff back to the hospital. After the crisis, she was part of a small team that traveled to Washington, D.C., helping secure a $1 billion community disaster loan for affected hospitals and state agencies.

From 2022 to 2024, Ms. Sdrougias served as chief payor strategy and managed care officer at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, the largest health system in Mississippi with a $2.5 billion annual budget. She restructured the Managed Care department, secured a $4.84 million net payment from major health plan that had been held for two years, negotiated systemwide health plan contracts, collaborated with revenue cycle teams to optimize payments, and worked with information systems to improve access to financial data.

From 2019 to 2022, she was director of contracting, credentialing, and enrollment at Tulane University Medical Group, where she negotiated complex contracts, strengthened credentialing processes, and provided key data to enhance revenue cycle performance.

Previously, she served as chief executive officer of Pathology Group of Louisiana from 2010 to 2017, guiding the state's second largest independent pathology group through significant growth, including expansion into the New Orleans market. She also launched a GoFundMe campaign that raised more than $50,000 for employees affected by the 2016 Baton Rouge floods.

At East Jefferson General Hospital, Ms. Sdrougias held multiple leadership roles from 1995 to 2010, including vice president of revenue cycle, managed care, and government relations, as well as executive director of a 500 physician PHO. She played a central role in legislative initiatives, representing the hospital statewide to explain key bills and regulatory changes. Her leadership during Hurricane Katrina earned her recognition from both the Louisiana Hospital Association and a state legislator.

Earlier in her career, she served as director of central appointment scheduling, billing and registration, and control desks at Ochsner Clinic from 1990 to 1994. In 1992, she implemented the nation's first automated appointment reminder calling system when Ochsner was selected as the national beta site.

Ms. Sdrougias holds a Bachelor of Science in marketing from St. Mary's Dominican College in New Orleans and earned the certified financial planner designation from the Denver School of Financial Planning, providing a strong foundation for her work in health care administration, contract negotiation, and financial management.

She has been active in numerous professional and civic organizations, including the Louisiana Medical Group Management Association legislative committee, the Metropolitan Hospital Council ad hoc managed care committee, and the Sisters of St. Joseph national committee on health insurance. She contributed to drafting the Medical Necessity Review Organization Act, participated in work groups with the Louisiana Departments of Insurance and Labor, and served on the Louisiana Hospital Association's workers' compensation task force while also chairing their Managed Care Committee. Her community involvement includes serving on the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce board and government committee, leading Jefferson Community School as board president, and supporting charitable initiatives such as the Ochsner Foundation's ECMO fundraising event.

Ms. Sdrougias attributes her achievements to her upbringing in a disciplined, education focused Hungarian family. Looking ahead, she intends to actively participate in community focused charitable efforts, and author a book titled From Secretary to CEO to Happy.
