His main responsibilities include drafting and negotiating contracts, interfacing with regulatory agencies such as the Department of Defense, Department of State, and Department of Commerce, and managing export control processes, including the procurement of export licenses and regulatory filings.

With a collaborative and solutions-oriented approach, Mr. Gerlach also reviews all contracts and non-disclosure agreements, prepares government proposals, assists with human resource matters, and works closely with the company's Chief Technology Officer on cybersecurity initiatives, including Artemis Electronics' compliance with the U.S. Government's Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) requirements. Additionally, he plays a critical role in supply chain oversight, leading supplier selection and management while spearheading company-wide efforts to prevent and combat the introduction of counterfeit electronic parts.

Throughout his tenure at Artemis Electronics, Mr. Gerlach has contributed to several significant organizational milestones. In June 2024, the company was awarded its largest defense contract to date, a success largely attributed to a proposal he prepared—an achievement that marked a pivotal moment in his professional journey. He has also played a key role in the 2014 and 2015 acquisitions of multiple product lines that have proven highly advantageous to the company's growth and strategic positioning. Further demonstrating his leadership, Mr. Gerlach served as project manager for the company's subcontract work on an international missile system repair and return program.

Another notable accomplishment includes his leadership of the company's successful effort to achieve AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 quality management system certification in 2014. He continues to oversee Artemis Electronics' quality management system on a day-to-day basis, ensuring ongoing compliance and operational excellence.

Prior to joining Artemis Electronics, Mr. Gerlach completed coursework at the University of Louisville College of Business, where he later earned a Master of Business Administration in 2014. This experience provided him with a strong foundation in business operations and management strategy, which continues to inform his approach to legal counsel within government contracting environments.

Mr. Gerlach earned his Juris Doctor from the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville in 2013, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in political science and economics from the University of Kentucky in 2010. During law school, Mr. Gerlach earned a Book Award in Conflicts of Laws, was a member of the Securities Law Moot Court Team, and served as a research assistant on securities class action research published in the Brooklyn Journal of International Law. He is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and is licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and before the United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Gerlach gained valuable experience serving as an advance representative intern at The White House from 2007 to 2008, followed by service as a White House Advance Representative from 2006 to 2009. This formative experience provided exposure to high-level governmental operations, protocol, as well as professionalism, further shaping his expertise in regulatory compliance and public affairs.
