MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA, February 10, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sylvain B. Engel has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With a career spanning two decades and marked by significant achievements in the aerospace industry, Mr. Engel has established himself as an expert in aircraft safety and engineering consultancy. Since 2019, he has served as the aerospace safety lead at Reliable Robotics Corporation, providing guidance on certifying civil aircraft without a pilot on board that can integrate into the National Airspace System.

In this capacity, Mr. Engel applies his multidisciplinary expertise in complex, flight-critical systems to the mission-critical objective of ensuring the safety of autonomous flight. His work is essential in demonstrating the safety and certifiability of large, autonomous uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS) to the Federal Aviation Administration. He is the architect of the safety case for the company's autonomy technology, where he has developed a unique, proprietary methodology for contingency analysis to ensure all off-nominal scenarios are sufficiently addressed. He has also developed an unprecedented tool chain providing a unified work environment supporting design engineering processes and safety processes.

Mr. Engel is engaged in the latest advancements in aerospace engineering through his work developing international aviation standards as a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE International). He contributes to Aircraft & Systems Development and Safety and Autonomy Working Groups. Specifically, he focuses on topics detailing the requirements for the communication link allowing a ground pilot to control a UAS and prescribing the expected response of a large UAS when the communication with the ground pilot is lost.

Prior to joining Reliable Robotics Corporation, Mr. Engel was a principal system safety engineer at Aviage Systems, sharing his time between Toulouse, France, and Shanghai, China. His leadership at the organization was recognized by the Excellence Award in 2017 for his contributions, including a solution to reduce the lead time to analyze the safety of an aircraft from years to weeks, and for his efforts analyzing multibillions of permutations.

Before that, Mr. Engel held the position of safety manager at Zodiac Aerospace, now Safran, in the Greater Paris Metropolitan Region of France. As head of the safety and reliability department, he was responsible for overseeing safety protocols, performing rigorous assessments and ensuring full compliance with industry standards. Before that, Mr. Engel specialized in system safety analysis and risk assessment for airborne electronic and mechanical systems at EADS APSYS in Toulouse. As a project manager and safety and reliability engineer, he oversaw projects focused on enhancing system reliability and safety for aeronautical applications.

In addition to his activity in the industry, Mr. Engel has shared his expertise in aviation safety and aircraft merit with the next generation of engineers through academia. He has taught equipment level safety at École Nationale de l'Aviation Civile (ENAC) in Toulouse, reliability at Université Paul Sabatier in Toulouse and System Safety at Civil Aviation University of China (CAUC) in Tianjin.

Mr. Engel earned an advanced master's degree in aircraft maintenance from École Nationale Supérieure d'Ingénieurs de Constructions Aéronautiques (ENSICA) in Toulouse, France and holds a Master of Engineering from École Nationale Supérieure des Industries Textiles de Mulhouse (ENSITM).

Reflecting on his journey thus far, Mr. Engel attributes his success to several key factors:
- An enduring drive for understanding and professional curiosity
- Guidance from exceptional mentors, such as the safety engineer for the Concorde program
- A willingness to take calculated risks by accepting challenging positions across different companies and countries

- And most importantly, the steadfast love and support of his wife, whose dedication has enabled him to pursue demanding roles and frequently travel around the world, while balancing family responsibilities.

In addition to his career commitments, Mr. Engel actively contributes to community service work showcasing aircraft to enhance public appreciation for aerospace engineering. Looking toward the future, he is committed to working with Reliable Robotics Corporation, the industry and the Federal Aviation Administration to ensure pilotless aircraft design enables safe operations — an historic achievement for aviation.
