Ms. Watson's practical experience includes agricultural production work as a member of the production crew at Cedar Circle Farm in 2019 and service as an intern with the Global Soil Partnership at the Food and Agriculture Organization from 2018 to 2019. Her expertise in international policy was further developed through her role as an international policy analyst with Soil4Climate in 2018.
Her legislative experience includes serving as a legislative intern for Vice Chair Stephen Kulik in the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 2018. She also served as president of the Tufts Panhellenic Council from 2015 to 2017. Throughout her early career, she developed interdisciplinary experience spanning environmental research, food justice, ethical business practices, nonprofit development, public engagement, and community advocacy.
Ms. Watson's professional expertise lies at the intersection of contract law, nonprofit law, environmental law, and Earth Law. Her professional credentials include certification as a yoga instructor through Yoga Alliance in 2020, designation as a soil advocate by Kiss the Ground since 2019, and completion of Basic Security in the Field training through the Food and Agriculture Organization in 2018. She was admitted to practice law by the Vermont Bar Association in 2022.
Ms. Watson attributes her professional development to the encouragement of her parents, Hilary Watson and Joe Watson, who fostered her limitless curiosity and intellectual navigation of the human experience, and appreciation for cosmopolitan history, art, and the potential for living in thriving community. She also credits mentors including William Moomaw, Neva Goodwin, Anne-Marie Codur, Susanna Choe, Ferananda Ibarra, Arthur Brock, Jenny Heinze, Juan Carlos Kaiten and Helen Slottje for their guidance.
Her decision to pursue law was shaped by formative experiences in Vermont during the 2010s, where engagement with soil health and food system reform informed her interest in participatory governance. Influenced by the writings of Paul Kahn and sustained by years of regional organizing, she continues to emphasize the importance of responsive, place-based action in addressing ecological challenges.
