PRAIRIEVILLE, LA, February 12, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Danika J. Mills, MBA, MSN, RN, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mrs. Mills currently serves as the Director of Nursing at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, a position she accepted in 2024. In this capacity, she oversees a staff of 50 plus professionals, including nurses, certified nursing assistants, nursing technicians, customer service representatives and patient service associates. Her expertise in merging medical-surgical and critical care environments has distinguished her as both a patient advocate and a skilled nurse. Notably, Mrs. Mills is recognized for her signature ability to foster collaboration among multidisciplinary teams and for her commitment to elevating standards of care.
A defining moment in Mrs. Mills's career occurred when her family was admitted to the hospital where she worked, prompting her to respond proactively. Drawing on her faith and resilience, she in turn developed new visitation, end-of-life and communication policies for the institution—initiatives that included providing tablets to families so they could connect with loved ones during critical moments, as well as training them in their use. This experience of transforming personal adversity into institutional change remains one of Mrs. Mills's most treasured professional achievements.
Inspired by her mother's career as a nurse and the deep bonds she witnessed between caregiver and patient, Mrs. Mills was drawn to the profession from an early age. Personal health challenges during high school—including epilepsy and psychogenic seizures—exposed her to both exemplary and substandard care, further motivating Mrs. Mills to pursue nursing to be a catalyst for positive change.
An abiding passion for academic excellence further drove Mrs. Mills to pursue numerous professional credentials. She now holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing as well as a Master of Business Administration, and she subsequently earned a Master of Science in Nursing with a specialty in Executive Leadership. Mrs. Mills credits her success thus far to her enduring faith and a steadfast commitment to doing what is right.
Mrs. Mills regularly seeks opportunities for civic engagement and proudly volunteers with a Traction team, US Express and the Dunham School Cheerleading Program. Notably, Mrs. Mills's many meaningful accomplishments and contributions have been acknowledged through distinct honors, such as inclusion in the 40 Under 40 list, selection as one of Louisiana's Top 100 Nurses and recipient of the Baton Rouge District Association Nurses Excellence Award, all in 2025. She was also presented the "CHG Application: A Hospital Wide Initiative" (podium) Transitioning Research into Practice (TRIP) Conference (podium) in Jackson, Mississippi in 2024 and "Rebuilding the Why: A Leadership Journey Toward Team Engagement and Unity" (Presentation Podium). Transitioning Research into Practice (TRIP) Conference (poster presentation) in 2025.
Mrs. Mills remains an active member with the American Nurses Credentialing Center, reflecting her dedication to ongoing professional development and best practices in nursing. Beyond her clinical and health care administrative presence, she co-owns Mills Ventures & Development, a commercial construction business with her husband, Kermit Mills, specializing in commercial construction and custom homes.
Mrs. Mills balances her professional responsibilities with an active personal and family life, spending quality time with her husband and their four children, with whom she enjoys playing games, supporting them in sports, working out and boxing. As she looks toward the future, she aims to advance into the role of Chief Nursing Officer at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center while continuing to inspire others by sharing her journey, and Mrs. Mills plans to author a book chronicling her story of transformation and advocacy within healthcare.
