KNOXVILLE, TN, February 13, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Stephen O. A. Dahunsi has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

An established leader in project management, safeguard analysis and planning support, Dr. Dahunsi currently serves as research and development associate staff at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, a position he has held since 2021. In this capacity, he supports nuclear programs for United States government partner countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, ensuring compliance with non-proliferation agreements, securing the transportation of radiological materials and promoting adherence to international reporting and compliance standards.

Though his tenure counts several milestones, Dr. Dahunsi is particularly proud of his pivotal role in facilitating increased compliance by Sub-Saharan African countries with their non-proliferation obligations, which has resulted in more nations actively reporting on the use, storage and shipment of their nuclear and radiological materials. This achievement has significantly advanced international nuclear safety and security standards in the region and around the world.

Prior to joining Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Dr. Dahunsi was a safeguards and security specialist II at Spectra Tech, Inc. from 2020 to 2021. In this role, he contributed to the development and implementation of security protocols for nuclear facilities and United States federal agencies, further strengthening his expertise in nuclear safeguards and technical solutions.

From 2019 to 2020, Dr. Dahunsi served as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he conducted advanced research in nuclear engineering and mentored graduate students. His earlier experience at the institution includes serving as a research assistant from 2016 to 2018, during which he supported faculty-led projects and training modules in collaboration with the International Nuclear Safeguards Engagement Program (INSEP).

Concurrently, Dr. Dahunsi spent two years as a graduate research associate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where he contributed to collaborative research initiatives between the laboratory and academic institutions before returning to work as associate staff in 2021.

Earlier in his professional journey, Dr. Dahunsi excelled as a scientific officer at the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission in Abuja, Nigeria, from 2007 to 2014. As one of the commission's pioneer staff members, he played a key role in researching and implementing Nigeria's peaceful nuclear program and served as the personal assistant to the chairman and chief executive officer, advising on technical innovations and atomic energy issues.

Dr. Dahunsi began his international career as a project manager at Socketworks in Victoria Island, Lagos, where he managed the budget and supervision of technology-driven projects that laid the groundwork for his future endeavors in engineering and management.

Alongside his primary roles, Dr. Dahunsi has made an impact on nuclear safety and research initiatives through his involvement in multiple industry-related organizations. He served as president of the University of Tennessee chapter of the Institute of Nuclear Materials Management and is a member of the American Nuclear Society, the Nigerian Society of Engineers and World Nuclear University.

Hailing from an equally robust academic background, Dr. Dahunsi earned a Doctor of Philosophy in energy science and engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2018 after completing a master's degree in nuclear engineering at the same institution in 2016. He also obtained a graduate certificate in nuclear engineering from Texas A&M University in 2014 and completed postgraduate coursework in radiation protection at the University of Ghana in 2013.

Earlier in his journey, Dr. Dahunsi completed a Bachelor of Engineering in electrical and electronics engineering from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University in 2004 and holds a diploma in organizational leadership from World Nuclear University. Dedicated to the ideals of continuous learning, he was certified in transport security management by the World Institute for Nuclear Security in 2025 and has completed courses in stakeholder communication, strategic leadership, machine learning and team management, all through LinkedIn.

Reflecting on his storied journey to date, Dr. Dahunsi attributes his success to having outstanding mentors and working with highly skilled professionals throughout his career. His early passion for peaceful nuclear applications and energy development led him into this field, where he continues to make an impact on communications and safety initiatives around the world.

Beyond his professional responsibilities, Dr. Dahunsi is dedicated to community development and educational advancement for future generations. He serves as a mentor for both high school students through the Tennessee Achieves Program — helping to improve their graduation rates — and college students through the UT Promise Program within the University of Tennessee, guiding students through their academic journeys.

Also a devoted family man, Dr. Dahunsi is the proud father of two daughters and one son, whom he continues to support following the recent loss of his wife. Looking toward the future, he aims to continue mentoring future generations while advancing peaceful applications of nuclear technology globally and promoting the deployment of United States-designed small modular reactors for smaller-scale power applications. Having led a life and career devoted to serving nations and communities worldwide, he continues to build a legacy of family values and helping others through everything he does.
