WASHINGTON, D.C., February 20, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Antoinette Yumi Pinkney has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mrs. Pinkney is a distinguished leader in the construction industry, drawing on more than three decades of professional experience. As founder and chief executive officer of Pinkney Services in Washington, D.C., since 2013, she has demonstrated exceptional expertise in the design and construction of commercial and residential spaces. In her current role, she oversees daily operations, ensures quality service delivery, and upholds the company's commitment to professionalism, integrity, and customer satisfaction. Under her leadership, Pinkney Services has become one of the top five contractors in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia region—a distinction that reflects her commitment to excellence and her ability to excel in a traditionally male-dominated industry.
Prior to founding her company, Mrs. Pinkney served as a project engineer at Turner Construction Company from 2007 to 2011. During this time, she contributed to major projects, including the Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, now known as Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center. She worked alongside HDR Architects and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on the $1 billion design-build project, overseeing design coordination, bidding processes, budgeting, logistics, and quality control on complex construction assignments.
From 2004 to 2007, Mrs. Pinkney was a senior project manager at Structure Tone, now known as STO Building Group. In this role, she managed high-end interior tenant improvement projects from inception to completion. She successfully delivered multiple data center projects for AOL and Roadrunner, as well as high-end law firm build-outs. Working diligently to coordinate teams and maintain strong client relationships, she honed leadership skills that would later prove invaluable in her entrepreneurial endeavors.
Mrs. Pinkney's construction journey began at an early age in her family's business, where she worked as a laborer alongside her father, a carpenter, and her uncles, who were a roofer and a painter. Her first formal position was as an assistant project manager in the field. Under the mentorship of architect and developer Dottie Stackhouse, she spent seven years constructing five buildings from the ground up. This formative experience sparked her passion for interior design and deepened her appreciation for both base building and interior build-outs.
Her academic background includes coursework in architecture and construction management at the University of Maryland, which provided a strong foundation for her professional success. She also holds certifications from the Department of Small and Local Business Development, underscoring her commitment to compliance, excellence, and continued professional growth.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Pinkney has remained actively engaged in industry organizations, including the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), NGLCC, and the National Association of REALTORS®. These affiliations allow her to stay aligned with evolving industry standards while advocating for diversity and inclusion within the construction sector.
Beyond her professional achievements, Mrs. Pinkney is deeply committed to community service. She supports and volunteers with SOME, Inc. and is a supporter of House of Ruth Maryland, reflecting her dedication to social responsibility and community empowerment.
Mrs. Pinkney attributes her success to the mentors who guided her throughout her career. She takes particular pride in advancing from working alongside men for the majority of her career to serving as an executive director of construction at leading firms before launching her own successful company.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Mrs. Pinkney enjoys traveling and cherishes time with her spouse and their child. Looking ahead, she aspires to join the Forbes Entrepreneur community, train and empower more women in construction, and mentor high school students interested in pursuing careers in the industry.
