CANTON, MI, March 02, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Abdul Salimi has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Hailing from over 15 years of experience with an equally robust education, Mr. Salimi currently serves as an optical engineer at KLA Corporation, which specializes in process control and manufacturing solutions within the field of semiconductors. In this capacity, he is responsible for designing advanced optical systems that drive brightness, performance and reliability in advanced imaging technologies. Additionally, he oversees budgets, engages with vendors and works closely with mechanical, electrical and software engineers to achieve the seamless integration of laser illumination systems.
Prior to joining KLA Corporation, Mr. Salimi was a senior optical engineer at MDA Space — a leader in geointelligence, robotics and satellite systems throughout the global space industry — from 2022 to 2024. During his tenure, he contributed to the development of sophisticated optical solutions for space applications, further honing his skills in project management and technical leadership.
Earlier in his journey, Mr. Salimi held the position of product developer optics at Christie Digital Systems USA, Inc. In this role for more than a decade, he played a pivotal part in the design of projection systems for helicopter simulators that were utilized in military training during wartime. His tenure at Christie Digital underscored his ability to apply a broad array of technical methods, precision optics and innovative approaches to real-world challenges.
Though his career counts several significant milestones, Mr. Salimi is particularly proud to have secured a patent for a dual phosphor wheel projection system in 2023 as well as a patent for a folded integrator rod device in 2021. Long driven by the desire to make a lasting impact on the field of optical illumination, his innovative efforts reaffirm his leadership and ability to create advanced projection environments.
Reflecting his ongoing commitment to professional development and industry engagement, Mr. Salimi is also an active member of professional organizations including the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE) and Optica.
Mr. Salimi's academic background has provided a strong foundation for his professional achievements. Before relocating to the United States, he earned a Master of Science in solid-state physics from University of the Punjab in his native Pakistan in 1993 as well as a bachelor's degree at the same institution.
Dedicated to the ideals of continuous learning, Mr. Salimi was certified in object visual recognition for intelligent vehicles and has obtained certificates in object visual detection for intelligent vehicles as well as sensors for autonomous vehicles, all in 2020 from the University of Houston (UH) IEEE College of Technology. While working at Christie Digital Systems, he furthered his credentials through certifications in optical instrument design from the University of California, Irvine in 2015 and in optical engineering from the University of California in 2014.
Reflecting on his storied engineering journey to date, Mr. Salimi attributes his accomplishments to the influence and support of his parents, whose guidance has shaped his dedication to lifelong learning and professional excellence.
Happily married and a proud father of one daughter and one son, Mr. Salimi cherishes spending time with his children, nieces and nephews outside of his professional endeavors. His daughter is completing her final year at Queen's University with aspirations for a career in medicine, while his son is pursuing studies in computer science at Winston University.
Determined to further his innovative impact in the coming years, Mr. Salimi intends to submit a third patent that is currently under development. He also hopes to retire within several years and transition into consultancy or explore opportunities across different industries, leveraging his extensive cross-sector experience to expand his horizons both professionally and personally.
