Mr. Fritz has established himself well in the glass manufacturing sector, currently serving as a furnace engineer at CertainTeed LLC, Saint-Gobain, since 2023. In this capacity he manages capital projects related to glass furnace rebuilds and helps oversee all of the company's furnace hot repairs. His responsibilities extend to include providing operational support for furnace contacts at each plant and handling emergency repairs. His quick advancement and large strides in glass industry knowledge has helped position Mr. Fritz as a leader who bridges the gap between the aging wealth of generational glass knowledge while tying in the vigor, research, and technological advancements that continue to push the boundaries in the upcoming generation of glass experts. Mr. Fritz finds particular fulfillment in helping manufacturing plants achieve operational stability by implementing furnace design modifications and selecting appropriate materials to create more stable environments for glass production. Additionally, he is also dedicated to providing comprehensive training on managing glass leaks, preparing facilities for end-of-life campaigns and collaborating with plant engineers to improve efficiency and optimize processes. His large strides in knowledge and experience in the glass industry have gained him recognition by a number of leaders in the glass industry.
Before joining his current organization, Mr. Fritz worked as a manufacturing engineer at Brazeway from 2021 to 2023. He also excelled as a combustion engineer and B&F supervisor at Ardagh Group, Glass, North America between 2019 and 2021, after initially working for the organization as a mechanical engineer from 2017 to 2019. Mr. Fritz's entry into the glass industry began at Carlex Glass America LLC in 2016, where he served as a process engineer. At this float glass plant, the only facility in North America integrating both hot-end and cold-end processes for flat glass production, he worked on the cold end, gaining valuable experience in process optimization and quality control. In 2015, he served as an undergraduate researcher at the U.S. National Science Foundation where the finding results of his work and research were published in the 2016 edition of NCUR Proceedings.
Mr. Fritz's educational background includes a diploma from Gateway Christian Schools in Memphis, Tennessee, in 2012, followed by a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2016. Throughout his educational background, Mr. Fritz has been actively involved in organizations, including roles with ASME and previously held roles with the Society of Physics Students and Lipscomb University Student Government Association. Mr. Fritz gained critical leadership experience through these roles as well as his involvement as a supervisor with one of Lipscomb University's departments. He also held a seat as a member on the Imagine Leadership Team which helped navigate the university and student body into the best position to welcome the then current President George W. Bush for a visit. Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Fritz has demonstrated a strong commitment to civic engagement and service, graduating as a SALT scholar which Lipscomb University recognizes as students that have gone above and beyond in the call of service and servant leadership. Among numerous affiliations he has been involved with the Honduras Bridge Project, the Engineering Mission Design project, and the Lipscomb University Peer Advising Program. He was also heavily involved with disaster relief efforts that took place after the 2010 Nashville floods. During his time as a student at Lipscomb University he was recognized as an outstanding fellow student/peer and was nominated for and won different awards internally to the Lipscomb University Student Government Association as well as being nominated for the Stephen Lee Marsh Christian Example Award at Lipscomb University.
Mr. Fritz's passion for engineering was sparked by a lifelong fascination with how systems function and a desire to improve efficiency and performance. This interest led him into the field of engineering and ultimately into the specialized niche of glass manufacturing, a sector he recognizes as having a gap between seasoned experts and newcomers. Eager for the future, Mr. Fritz remains committed to highlighting skilled trades within engineering for younger generations and to communicating the value of these specialized roles to college students and aspiring engineers.
