KAUKAUNA, WI, March 11, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Holly Doughty, LPC, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Currently serving as the owner of and licensed professional counselor at Safe Harbor Counseling LLC, which she founded in 2022, Ms. Doughty has led a distinguished career in counseling and mental health services. Based in Appleton, Wisconsin, she conducts client sessions four days per week, processes billing and insurance communications, writes clinical notes and connects with doctors regarding patient care. Responsible for all aspects of her counseling practice, she continues to demonstrate a comprehensive approach to long-term patient welfare and effective management.
Prior to founding Safe Harbor Counseling, Ms. Doughty was a mental health clinician at ThedaCare in Appleton from 2014 to 2022. Her patients have continued to reach out to her with updates since their time at ThedaCare, including those from chronic pain support groups. She did create the material used for chronic pain groups, which are still running today. One of her chronic pain groups has continued to meet and run to support one another. Her reputation for going above and beyond was exemplified when she continued distress tolerance work with a former chronic pain patient during an appointment while simultaneously coordinating with medical staff to secure proper care after multiple emergency room visits.
Ms. Doughty's initial experience at ThedaCare includes an internship in 2014, which provided her with foundational exposure to clinical environments and patient care. The following year, she served as a relief specialist with the Winnebago County Department of Human Services, further broadening her expertise in community-based support systems.
Prior to entering the counseling sector, Ms. Doughty excelled in education and child development as a school-age teacher at Kidzland from 2013 to 2014. During this time, she also completed an internship with Volunteers in Offender Services (VIOS) in Outagamie County, which connects volunteers with those in the criminal justice system to offer mentorship and supportive resources.
Ms. Doughty's earlier positions include jewelry consultant roles at JCPenney and Zales, where she gained significant management and communication experience that would serve her well in the education and counseling sectors. From 2010 to 2012, she was a line therapist with the Fox Valley Autism Treatment Program in Appleton, where she supported children on the autism spectrum.
Hailing from an equally accomplished academic background, Ms. Doughty earned a master's degree in community counseling from Lakeland College in 2014 following a bachelor's degree in psychology and human development from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in 2011. Determined to make an impact outside the classroom as well, she served as an assembly line worker at Miller Electric Manufacturing Company in Appleton as part of a student help program in 2007.
To augment her professional qualifications, Ms. Doughty is licensed as a professional counselor and is a member of the National Board of Certified Counselors, which has enabled her to provide clinical services independently through her own practice. Along with her education, she attributes much of her success to the outstanding mentorship she received from experienced clinicians during her early years at ThedaCare. These mentors recognized her energy and passion for the field, offering guidance that allowed her to develop new skills and ultimately establish Safe Harbor Counseling.
Ms. Doughty's decision to pursue counseling was influenced by her early life experiences while working multiple jobs and excelling in college. After earning dual bachelor's degrees, she recognized the need for advanced education to progress professionally and subsequently completed her master's studies in counseling.
Alongside her successful career, Ms. Doughty leads a vibrant family life as a happily married mother whose children participate on youth sports teams. She attends their events regularly and supports their athletic endeavors; notably, her daughter joined a competitive under-8 softball team at age 5, while her son has played on travel baseball teams, and at 7 years old he played 10 full baseball games in 3 days for one tournament. Outside of her work and family activities, she fosters German shorthaired pointer dogs and enjoys sublimating jerseys and shirts for her children's athletic teams.
Looking toward the future, Ms. Doughty intends to continue providing individual counseling while teaching other clinicians how to assist those who live with chronic pain. Her long-term aim is to develop materials for clinicians who are addressing chronic pain management needs within the field.
Ms. Doughty's life and career reflect her longstanding dedication to helping those in need, professional growth, civic involvement and family values — qualities that have earned her recognition among leaders in counseling and mental health as well as throughout her community.
