PENSACOLA, FL, March 11, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sam D. Barker has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Currently serving as the Assistant Project Manager and computer-aided design (AutoCAD) drafter at Fluid Metalworks, Inc. in Pensacola, Florida, Sam Barker has established himself as an expert in residential and commercial construction management. In his role at the metal fabrication firm, he maintains communication with clients and vendors, manages bids and estimates, and oversees the creation of design elements using AutoCAD. In addition to preparing submittals for approval from engineers, clients and design teams, he coordinates plans with the production team to ensure all the necessary details are provided for accurate builds.
Prior to joining Fluid Metalworks, Barker was employed by Southern Exteriors in Pensacola from 2023 to 2025 as a punch and warranty technician. His responsibilities included finalizing residential projects to their completion and addressing warranty issues for homeowners who voice additional concerns after moving into their new location.
Through his position at Southern Exteriors, Barker interacted with a diverse range of clients, including veterans and families new to the area. One memorable experience involved assisting an older military veteran in Alabama who had recently undergone Lasik surgery and subsequently noticed minor issues in his home. Barker's ability to connect with this veteran and others on a personal level was shaped by his upbringing in a military family, fostering a special rapport and understanding with those he served.
In 2023, Barker worked as an installation technician and rigger at MainStage Theatrical Supply, Inc., where he contributed to the setup and maintenance of stage equipment for various commercial projects, ranging from a multi-million dollar amphitheater in Clearwater, FL, to theatrical spaces for schools in Milwaukee, WI.
Sam's commitment to community service is equally evident through his extensive involvement with Pensacola Habitat for Humanity from 2019 to 2023. Beginning as a crew leader and advancing to head crew leader, he played a pivotal role in constructing nearly 50 homes for local families in need. This achievement stands as one of his proudest milestones, as it allowed him to build lasting relationships with homeowners and volunteers while making a tangible impact on his community. Additionally, he volunteered with Ronald McDonald House, which supports families in need with medical resources and care and Pensacola Little Theatre where he earned an award for Best Stagehand during the course of a local production.
Before venturing onto his professional path, Mr. Barker pursued higher education and earned a bachelor's degree in construction management from the University of West Florida in 2019. To expand his knowledge in project planning, site management and construction processes, he has also completed the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30-hour certification and is now pursuing the Project Management Professional, PMP, certification from Project Management Institute or PMI.
The value of perseverance has been central to Barker's journey. Born with a hearing impairment and with cerebral palsy, he has faced unique challenges that have shaped his approach to life and work in Pensacola. His speech patterns are affected by a slight impediment, requiring extra effort in communication; however, these experiences have instilled in him resilience and determination that underpin both his academic and professional achievements. Sam will tell you that having a hearing impairment meant he learned at an early age the importance of eye contact and face-to-face communication which gave him a leg-up over many his age.
Reflecting on his storied journey thus far, Barker is immensely grateful to his parents for their unwavering support throughout his life's challenges. Outside of his career, he enjoys woodworking, reading and time spent with his family. Sam also appreciates the positive influence of his older sister and her family, as well as his wife's family who has been equally supportive in his endeavors. He enjoys getting to be Uncle Sam to his niece and two nephews.
Looking toward the future, Sam Barker aspires to becoming a project manager or construction manager as he continues building relationships within Pensacola's professional sector. To further align his networking efforts with his career objectives, he is exploring involvement with organizations such as the Home Builders Association of Pensacola and Associated Builders and Contractors of North Florida. His story reflects a steadfast commitment to excellence, service and personal growth — qualities that have earned him recognition among his industry peers and throughout the community.
