Earlier in his career, Dr. Pfeister honed his expertise in sales and marketing as vice president at Johnson & Higgins and Alexander & Alexander Services Inc., based in New York. His foundational experiences included roles as assistant vice president and account executive at Alexander & Alexander Services Inc., as well as marketing specialist and division manager at Prudential Financial Inc.

Dr. Pfeister's academic background laid a strong foundation for his professional achievements. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy from The City University of New York in 1978 and a Master of Business Administration in finance and a Bachelor of Science in forestry from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1971 and 1969, respectively. These academic accomplishments equipped him with a diverse skill set he applied throughout his career. Additionally, Dr. Pfeister is a certified skydiving instructor, showcasing his commitment to continuous learning and personal development.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Dr. Pfeister has been actively involved with several industry-related organizations, such as the American Psychological Association, the National Eagle Scout Association, the Society of American Foresters, and the Forest Products Research Society. His dedication to civic engagement is evident through his longstanding involvement with the Boy Scouts of America, where he founded a troop in Bronxville, New York, that grew to nearly 80 members. He also served as president of Junior Achievement in Denver, Colorado, from 1963 to 1964.

He was a contributing author to "The Practice of Planning: Strategic, Administrative, and Operational," published in 1981, and authored "The Strategic Planning Process" for Alexander & Alexander Services Inc. and its subsidiaries in 1980. Born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Dr. Pfeister attributes much of his success to hard work and considers his wife, Jennifer Myers, a significant influence on his life.
