KANSAS CITY, MO, March 12, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lisa A. Gioia, CPA, independent financial management and accounting consultant, was selected by Marquis Who's Who for a prominent feature in the February/March 2026 national edition of Fortune magazine.

Ms. Gioia is celebrated in the field of accounting for her decades-long career, advocacy for nonprofit management and financial expertise. Since 1990, she has dedicated herself to serving as an independent financial management and accounting consultant to nonprofit organizations nationwide. Leveraging her advanced skills in accounting practices, Ms. Gioia also ensured the nonprofit organizations' budget and investment sustainability and has served as both an accountant and part-time chief financial officer for many of her clients. She has collaborated with more than 125 nonprofits and trained over 1,000 nonprofits over the course of her career.

Exhibiting a strong passion for helping others in their times of need, Ms. Gioia has dedicated her work exclusively to nonprofit organizations. Earlier in her career, she worked as an independent auditor and tax professional for several social service agencies, arts organizations and nonprofit associations for nearly 10 years. She also taught graduate-level accounting courses at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and Eastern University. Additionally, Ms. Gioia conducted training sessions through The Pew Charitable Trusts and held accounting seminars at both the Center for Professional Education and the Foundation for Accounting Education. She commenced her career with Laventhol & Horwath in 1981 and spent over nine years there as an audit supervisor, manager in the firm's national accounting and audit department, and audit manager.

Highly educated, Ms. Gioia is a certified public accountant in Missouri. At the inception of her academic journey, she graduated summa cum laude from Avila University (formerly Avila College) with a Bachelor of Arts in accounting, international management and French in 1981. After accruing many years in her industry, she received a Master of Public Administration in nonprofit management from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2007. Eager to remain in touch with her scholarly roots and give back to the academic community, Ms. Gioia has served on the board of trustees of Avila University since 2024.

Now entering the later stage of her career, Ms. Gioia has been committed to volunteering for charities and nonprofits. Having participated in the Women's Employment Network, the United Way of Greater Kansas City and the Women's Foundation (now United WE), she has also been volunteering and helping her local Catholic Church. In addition, Ms. Gioia has allocated time to the finance committee for Nonprofit Connect and served as board president for Community Accountants and Arts Alive.

As a testament to her success in financial management, accounting, and civic advocacy, Ms. Gioia has been the recipient of a myriad of accolades. Particularly noteworthy awards include the Northfield Village Good Neighbor Award in 2023, the Local Heroes Award from Ingram's Magazine in 2022 and the Volunteer Achievement Award from Accountants for the Public Interest in 1992. She also earned the Student Achievement Award from The Wall Street Journal in 1981. Additionally, in 1992, she was recognized as the Volunteer of the Year by Community Accountants and as the Accountant Advocate of the Year by the Small Business Administration.
