NEW YORK, NY, March 12, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Liz Frederick has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Living in New York City, Ms. Frederick spent her formative years living and traveling in several countries, including Kenya, Tanzania, India and Denmark. Her father's work with the United Nations, particularly with an organization dedicated to women's and children's rights, exposed her early on to global injustices faced by marginalized populations. This upbringing instilled in Ms. Frederick a deep awareness of social inequities, an understanding of the racial systemic barriers and a commitment to advocacy that would shape her professional journey.

After completing her undergraduate studies, Ms. Frederick's first employment interview took place in Wall Street. However, feeling out of place as the only woman of color in a room of white peers, she chose to pivot from the corporate sector toward the nonprofit sector, seeking a career path more and cause closely aligned with her values.

Ms. Frederick's professional trajectory is marked by a steadfast dedication to justice reform, court advocacy, youth empowerment and creating pathways to success for New York City's youth and young adults. From 2006 to 2019, she completed her first tenure with Avenues for Justice as a Development and Operations manager. During these thirteen years, she developed extensive expertise in fundraising, operations, development, fiscal management and organizational development, playing a key role in securing the resources necessary to support the organization's sustainability and program growth. Building on this experience, she was promoted to Chief Operating Officer in 2020 by Avenues for Justice's Board of Directors, a role she held through 2024 when she was unanimously elected to lead the organization as Executive Director.

In 2024, Ms. Frederick was appointed as the executive director of Avenues for Justice in New York City, following the transition of the organization's co-founder after five decades of leadership. Recognizing the significance of this milestone, she embraced the challenge with determination, intent on advancing the organization's legacy while forging her own path. She leads with purpose to demonstrate that Black women can excel in spaces where they have historically been underrepresented, inspiring others to pursue their goals regardless of their starting point in life.

As executive director since 2024, Ms. Frederick has overseen all aspects of Avenues for Justice's mission-driven work. Her responsibilities include meeting with funders and prospective donors, collaborating with the board of directors and ensuring organizational visibility within court systems across all five boroughs of New York City. She advances the organization's mission by providing court advocacy services and comprehensive support focused on education, employment readiness, workforce development and mental health for individuals ages 13 to 24, particularly within Black and Brown communities. Additionally, she engages with key stakeholders in the criminal legal system—including judges, Alliance for Justice team members, participants and facilitators—and is responsible for writing proposals and reports that sustain the organization's impact.

Throughout her career, Ms. Frederick has developed recognized expertise in leadership, development, fundraising, operations management, fiscal matters, alternatives to incarceration, court advocacy, criminal and juvenile justice reform, as well as social and racial justice initiatives. Her commitment to supporting justice-impacted youth has established her as a respected leader within her field.

Academically, Ms. Frederick's background includes a Master of Arts in criminal justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City and a Bachelor of Science cum laude in organizational communication, learning and design from Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York. She has furthered her industry impact as a NationSwell council member, an Impact 100 NYC board member and a Youth INC organizational member.

Ms. Frederick has pursued numerous professional development opportunities to strengthen her leadership and nonprofit management expertise. She participated in the Greater NY Leadership Initiative from 2025 to 2027 and was a cohort member of the Robin Hood Foundation's New ED/CEO Peer Learning Group from 2024 to 2025. She has also engaged in programs like Cause Effective's Focus on Fundraising initiative and Columbia Business School's Developing Leaders Program for Nonprofit Professionals. In addition, she has taken part in several fellowships, leadership cohorts and advisory roles that support professional growth and collaboration within the nonprofit and social impact sectors.

Reflecting on her career, Ms. Frederick attributes her success to leading with empathy and compassion, fostering an environment where all team members feel empowered and creating opportunities for professional growth within her organization. Throughout her career, she has received multiple honors recognizing her influence and leadership, including City & State's "Above & Beyond: Women" Award, Influential Woman of the Month by Influential Women and a Congressional Proclamation presented by Congressman Dan Goldman, Assembly Member Keith Powers and Council Member Harvey Epstein.

Ms. Frederick's civic engagement extends well beyond her professional responsibilities, reflecting her longstanding commitment to community impact and leadership development. Since 2024, she has served as a board member of Impact 100 NYC, supporting philanthropic initiatives that invest directly in New York City communities. She also participates in the Greater NY Leadership Initiative, where she collaborates with other leaders focused on advancing social progress.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Frederick engaged in several leadership and professional development initiatives, including the Robin Hood Foundation's New ED/CEO Peer Learning Group and Cause Effective's Focus on Fundraising program for executive leaders of color. She was also named a fellow through Advancing Leaders of Color in Fundraising and has participated in programs and convenings through organizations like Columbia Business School, WNET and Pace University's Lubin School of Business, while also volunteering with community organizations, including Avenues for Justice, Goddard Riverside and The Bronx Neighborhoods.

Ms. Frederick is also known for her monthly "Tea With the ED" blogs, which focus on balancing motherhood, justice reform, community engagement and executive leadership. Each entry concludes with "Sweetener in my Tea," an exercise inspired by Notorious B.I.G.'s philosophy of turning negatives into positives. In her personal life, she is devoted to self-care, self-preservation and wellness care—practices she considers essential for sustaining long-term impact both professionally and personally. She also prioritizes her role as a mother to one daughter.

Looking ahead, Ms. Frederick seeks to restore justice for young individuals experiencing inequities within the criminal justice system. She believes incarceration should serve as an alternative rather than the default response for youth facing limited opportunities or resources within their communities. She remains committed to providing essential support and creating pathways for success, including academic assistance, employment opportunities and access to necessary mental health care—ensuring that every young person has the chance to achieve their full potential regardless of circumstance.
