PULASKI, VA, March 13, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Chip Clark has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Clark has established a distinguished career in education and student advocacy, marked by more than a decade of dedicated service at New River Community College in Dublin, Virginia. Since 2013, he has served as an embedded English tutor, responsible for tutoring students in writing, guiding them from basic sentence structure to the complexities of research papers. In this capacity, Mr. Clark is recognized for building student confidence in their writing abilities and serving as a vital bridge between professors and students. His approach emphasizes fostering independence among his students; he takes particular pride in helping individuals progress from struggling with fundamental grammar to composing well-structured research papers. By the end of each semester, many of his students require only minimal assistance, such as proofreading for minor errors, which Mr. Clark considers his most significant professional achievement.
Before his current role, Mr. Clark was an education specialist I at New River Community College from 2013 to 2019. During this period, he provided academic support and mentorship to students, further developing his expertise in addressing diverse learning needs and reinforcing his commitment to student success.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Clark served as a personal care assistant with New River Valley Community Services from 2011 to 2012. This experience deepened his understanding of individualized support and advocacy for people with disabilities, a perspective that continues to inform his work with students facing academic and personal challenges.
Mr. Clark's professional journey also includes significant involvement in statewide disability advocacy. In 2006, he participated as both a panel guest and moderator at a statewide disability conference, sharing insights drawn from his experiences as a student and educator navigating life with cerebral palsy and diabetes. Additionally, he served as a student government senator at New River Community College, representing student interests and contributing to campus governance.
His commitment to academic excellence is reflected in his membership in Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society recognizing outstanding achievement among students at two-year colleges.
Mr. Clark's educational background has been instrumental in shaping his career trajectory and philosophy. He earned a bachelor's degree in general studies from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, in 2011, where he completed coursework in English, Special Education and Psychology. This multidisciplinary foundation equipped him to address his students' varied needs and foster inclusive learning environments. He previously received an Associate of Applied Science degree in general studies from New River Community College in Dublin, Virginia, in 2005. His dual perspective as both a former student and current faculty member at New River Community College enables him to connect authentically with those he mentors.
Throughout his academic and professional journey, Mr. Clark has attributed his success primarily to the relationships he has cultivated with faculty and students alike. He deliberately adopts approachable attire—often band shirts and casual clothing—to make himself accessible to students seeking help. Recognizing that confidence is often the greatest barrier for writers, he prioritizes building self-assurance alongside technical skill development.
Mr. Clark's passion for supporting others extends beyond the classroom into civic engagement and volunteerism. In 2008, he contributed as a paper shredder and New River Valley church roster coordinator at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center through Carilion Clinic. He has also been actively involved in church choirs. He has advocated for students with disabilities through programs such as College Bound with Virginia Tech and New River Community College for approximately 10 years.
His dedication has been recognized through honors such as the New River Valley Young Hero award in 2001.
Born with cerebral palsy affecting the right side of his body and living as an insulin-dependent diabetic, Mr. Clark's personal experiences have shaped his unwavering commitment to helping others overcome barriers. Despite undergoing approximately six shunt replacement surgeries since 2013—each requiring significant recovery—he remains steadfastly devoted to supporting students on their academic journeys.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Mr. Clark enjoys gaming and is adept at playing PlayStation games using only his left hand.
Looking ahead, Mr. Clark intends to continue serving as an embedded English tutor at New River Community College, a role that aligns perfectly with both his abilities and passion for empowering students to achieve their goals despite adversity.
