ARLINGTON, TX, March 13, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- James Healy Jr. has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Marked by a distinguished dual career in law enforcement and the performing arts, Mr. Healy's storied professional journey spans five decades. His commitment to building connections with producers and directors through social media, attending networking events such as The Screen Actors Guild Awards, and being a consummate professional on stage and screen has solidified his longstanding reputation within the industry.
Mr. Healy began his acting career at age 15, inspired by a high school drama class and by performing in local theater events. By 17, he was working professionally with an agent; remarkably, his first-ever television appearance was in the iconic "Who Shot J.R.?" episode of the classic soap opera "Dallas" in 1980.
Over the years, Mr. Healy has amassed more than 90 film and television credits and performed in over 100 plays and theater musicals. A few of his more notable screen appearances include roles in "Will & Grace," Taylor Sheridan's "1923" and "Tulsa King," "Judging Amy," "JAG" and a recurring role on the popular Disney comedy series "Even Stevens." He has also appeared in admired projects such as "Killers of the Flower Moon," with Robert De Niro, directed by Martin Scorsese. Other roles in films include "Reagan" alongside Dennis Quaid, Tyler Perry productions, the hit Netflix legal drama "The Lincoln Lawyer" and "Dopesick" with Michael Keaton. Among his most significant achievements is securing the second male lead and portraying the father of the lead female character in the acclaimed six-episode limited series "A Thousand Tomorrows."
Prior to focusing exclusively on acting, Mr. Healy served for over 30 years in law enforcement, starting as a patrol officer in Grand Prairie, Texas, in 1983. He advanced to become a member of the SWAT team and later worked as a detective specializing in property crimes, vice, and narcotics, and, lastly, in the Gang unit. In 2002, he joined another agency to assist in rebuilding its department. Four years later, he traveled to Afghanistan to help create and train the command staff for the Afghan National Police Force — a testament to his leadership and expertise. Upon returning to Texas in 2008, he served as chief of police in Godley until retiring from law enforcement in 2016.
Though his multifaceted career counts many milestones, Mr. Healy has been recognized for earning the respect of his peers — an accomplishment he values above all others — as well as for his ability to foster collaboration among colleagues across disciplines.
Mr. Healy's equally accomplished academic background includes a master's degree in criminal justice with an emphasis in law enforcement from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor of Science from Ottawa University. Before this he was a Theatre Major at the University of Texas at Arlington. He was also certified as a master peace officer, equipping himself with a strong foundation for his law enforcement leadership roles as well as his success on stage and screen.
Dedicated to supporting military veterans as well as other individuals and families in need, Mr. Healy is civically engaged as an active donor to organizations such as The Veterans Association, the American Heart Association, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the American Lung Association.
Throughout his career, Mr. Healy has been recognized with numerous accolades including Best Actor in a Play, Best Supporting Actor in a Play, Best Supporting Actor in a Musical, The People's Choice Award and Theater Award of Excellence — all from The University of Texas at Arlington — as well as the Best Actor Award for the theater season at Theatre Arlington, where he was awarded a Star on their Walk of Fame. In honor of his outstanding service in law enforcement, he earned several Officer of the Month awards along with Officer of the Year honors from both the Grand Prairie Crime Commission and the Grand Prairie Police Association.
Reflecting on his well-traveled journey to date, Mr. Healy credits his family's support and love for keeping him grounded and authentic in everything he does. Happily married for over 40 years and a proud father, he enjoys golfing, bowling, spending time with close friends and maintaining his physical health and mental acuity — exercises that continue to aid him in memorizing lines for performances.
Looking to the future with optimism, Mr. Healy aims to continue working as an actor with aspirations of becoming a series regular on a network show. Additionally, he intends to take on supporting roles that showcase his versatility and dedication to his craft, furthering his legacy of following his dreams while bringing joy and wonder to audiences worldwide.
