Her practice encompasses both individual and family therapy as she strives to guide patients on their healing journeys by utilizing both short-term and long-term approaches.

Dr. King is also recognized for her proficiency in conducting forensic-focused evaluations, including competency and capacity assessments, parenting fitness evaluations and co-parenting support planning. Providing both in-person and telehealth services across multiple states, she regularly completes court-ordered evaluations, prepares comprehensive reports and delivers expert testimony as required. She often serves as an expert witness on psychological matters, with her work integrating research-informed opinions into professional findings and collaborations with attorneys on trial competency evaluations.

Prior to founding her own practice, Dr. King served as a licensed clinical psychologist at Lepage Associates in Durham, North Carolina, from 2022 to 2024. In this role, she provided therapeutic services and psychological assessments while further developing her expertise in diagnostic clarification, record reviews, clinical group consultations and support implementation for families. Her responsibilities included assessing attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorder and accommodation needs for clients navigating complex mental health challenges.

From 2021 to 2022, Dr. King completed a clinical psychology internship at Community Reach Center in Thornton, Colorado. Working with 20 to 25 clients each week, she gained valuable experience working within community mental health settings, delivering care to underserved populations and refining her skills in both individual and group therapy modalities.

Dr. King's earlier training included a psychology externship at Inova Kellar Center in Fairfax, Virginia, from 2020 to 2021. During this period, she contributed to multidisciplinary teams that focused on child and adolescent mental health as well as adults with addiction, supporting families through evidence-based interventions.

From 2019 to 2020, Dr. King was a psychology extern at Capitol Hill Consortium for Counseling and Consultation LLC, providing counseling services to clients with diverse needs while honing her abilities in assessment and intervention. She began her foundational experience as a psychology extern at the Child and Guidance Clinic within District of Columbia Courts from 2018 to 2019, during which she provided pre-adjudication services and administered psychoeducational assessments that informed her later specialization in forensic psychology.

Throughout her career journey since entering the field in 2012, Dr. King has demonstrated resilience and self-belief — qualities that enabled her to return to academia after a significant break following high school challenges. Excelling in college ignited her passion for psychology; she graduated early with a Bachelor of Science in psychology in 2011 and went on to earn a Master of Arts in professional counseling in 2013, both from University of the Cumberlands. Dedicated to the ideals of continuous learning, she pursued advanced studies at The Chicago School, where she received a Master of Arts in clinical psychology in 2019 followed by a Doctor of Psychology in 2022.

Dr. King's academic achievements provided a strong foundation for her subsequent licensure as a psychologist by the Ohio Board of Psychology in 2023, the North Carolina Psychology Board in 2023 and the Board of Psychology within Virginia Department of Health Professions. Additionally, she is certified by the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT®), enabling her to offer telepsychology services across state lines.

Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. King is equally devoted to research and advocacy efforts. As a published researcher, she has contributed three articles recognized by leading entities such as the World Health Organization — two examining substance use and substitution concepts and one analyzing recidivism rates related to treatment options for alcohol-related offenses. She remains committed to advancing research at the intersection of forensics, public health and substance use for the benefit of doctors and patients alike.

An active member of the American Psychological Association, Dr. King is also civically engaged as a volunteer with LGBTQ+ youth pride organizations as well as fan supporter organizations for Football Club Cincinnati within Major League Soccer.

Dr. King's inspiration for entering psychology stemmed from an early fascination with violence and criminal justice — motivated by questions about why individuals harm others or become vulnerable themselves — and was shaped by personal family experiences with depression, anxiety and substance use. These influences fostered her belief that emotional experiences are universal and that no one should feel isolated by their struggles.

Central to Dr. King's achievements is her deep self-awareness, fortitude and curiosity, qualities that have allowed her to view setbacks as opportunities for growth rather than obstacles. She also credits much of her success to the unwavering support of loved ones — particularly her parents and sister — who have encouraged her throughout her journey, as well as impactful mentors such as Dr. Michael Scherer, Dr. Jennifer Christman and Dr. Dennis Trickett.

Born in Van Wert, Ohio, as the younger of two children, Dr. King was raised with values such as self-awareness, advocacy and traveling to experience different cultures — principles that continue to guide her commitment to spreading kindness and supporting others. Her sister is a talented artist residing in the Akron-Cleveland area.

Determined to expand her horizons outside of her professional endeavors as well, Dr. King enjoys running in marathons, reading new research publications, learning German and traveling extensively throughout nearly all 50 United States as well as Mexico and Canada. Continuing her avid support of FC Cincinnati, she cherishes time spent with her family and friends and cares for two cats.

Looking toward the future, Dr. King seeks to diversify Evolve Psychological Services further while enhancing mental health awareness through ongoing research contributions and publishing efforts aimed at destigmatizing these issues. She also plans to develop an early childhood curriculum designed to normalize emotions and teach essential communication skills, promoting prevention-focused strategies that empower future generations toward greater well-being.
