Prior to her tenure at Columbia Southern University, Walters served as Vice President of Institutional Advancement at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, where she led comprehensive fundraising and advancement strategies. Earlier in her career at Jones County Junior College, she led a $9 million major gifts campaign. An effort distinguished not only by its financial success but also by the culture of unity it fostered across campus. Through a month-long internal "family campaign," every employee participated, reinforcing her belief that the strongest organizations are built through shared purpose and collective ownership.

Walters holds a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology and a Bachelor of Science from Mississippi State University, where she was a student-athlete on the women's basketball team. She also served as Mississippi, USA, in 1996. Her leadership journey has been further strengthened through executive education at the Yale School of Management.
