As chief executive officer and an insider threat program officer, Mr. Murphy oversees daily business operations. He serves as the official counterterrorism subject matter expert for the American Hotel Lodging Association.

Before obtaining his current role, Mr. Murphy was the senior director of global safety and security services for Marriott International, where he oversaw the creation and implementation of safety and security guidelines, standards and training programs. He also assisted in defending the company against lawsuits and used those findings to mitigate future lawsuits related to the hospitality industry. Throughout his career, Mr. Murphy has also contributed to various publications, including "Security Business Practices Reference Volume II, Physical Security" and "Grounds for Protection."

An expert in his field, Mr. Murphy holds a physical security professional certification and a certified protection professional certification through ASIS International. Similarly, he has been certified in crime prevention through environmental design through the American Crime Prevention Institute and certified in lodging security management through the American Hotel Lodging Association's Educational Institute. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, he aligns himself with several organizations and agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security, InfraGard, the Real Estate Roundtable Homeland Security Task Force, International Association of Private Security Consultants, ASIS International, and the National Fire Protection Association. In conjunction with his educational and professional endeavors, Mr. Murphy serves as community chairman of the condo association's security council.

In recognition of his outstanding work, Mr. Murphy has been honored through Marriott International as the Regional Director of Loss Prevention of the Year for the Southeast Region. In 1991 and 1992, he received the Manager of the Quarter Awards for his dedication to leadership excellence. While his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Murphy takes the most pride in serving as chairman of the Department of Homeland Security's Critical Infrastructure Cross Sector Coordinating Council during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, Mr. Murphy credits his success to his positive mindset, which he developed through his competitive martial arts and archery training.
