PEORIA, IL, March 25, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Brett M. Elliott has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Brett M. Elliott currently serves as the superintendent of Stark County Community Unit School District Number 100, a position he has held since 2020. In this capacity, he has demonstrated a commitment to fostering educational excellence and community engagement. Notably, Mr. Elliott played a pivotal role in establishing the Stark Council for Continuous Improvement (SCCI) by bringing together local leaders to form the organization.

In addition to the overall culture change throughout the district, as superintendent, Mr. Elliott led the physical transformation throughout the district through nearly $30 million in facility upgrades. Upgrades included building a new Stark County High School, basketball arena, library and all-weather track. In addition, major renovations to the elementary school, junior high, athletic complex and transportation department. The addition of solar to the elementary campus and upcoming solar at the junior-senior high will leave a legacy of excellence for decades to come.

Since being acquired by the district, Mr. Elliott created SCCI, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting community support for growth within and around the school district. This initiative operates as a council committee, with Mr. Elliott serving as its President, and focuses on economic development projects, such as housing development, daycare and independent living. The subcommittee's efforts have received endorsements from all three town mayors and the county board, and, as of 2026, have secured county funding for its initiatives. Current projects include developing a new subdivision and expanding opportunities for students through cooperative work programs, trades training, and financial support for career and technical education.

Mr. Elliott previously served as a Principal at Richwoods High School in the Peoria Public Schools in Peoria, Illinois, from 2016 to 2020. During his tenure, he successfully replicated the cultural transformation strategies that had proven effective in his previous leadership roles. Under Mr. Elliott's guidance, Richwoods High School was recognized among the top 100 high schools nationwide by both Newsweek (2020) and U.S. News & World Report for four consecutive years (2016-2020).

Between 2011 and 2016, Mr. Elliott served as a Principal at Peoria High School, where he led a comprehensive cultural transformation in an academically challenged inner-city environment. His leadership during this period was documented in the YouTube film "A Peoria High Case Study." Mr. Elliott regards this achievement as his most significant professional accomplishment, citing the successful turnaround of the school's academic standing and culture as both challenging and rewarding.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Elliott was an assistant principal at Roosevelt Magnet School K-8 in Peoria Public Schools from 2007 to 2011. In this role, he contributed to administrative leadership and supported student development across grade levels. Mr. Elliott began his professional journey as a teacher at Roosevelt Magnet School in 1995. Having spent over a decade in the classroom, he has found that this experience shaped his educational philosophy and commitment to supporting every student's potential.

Mr. Elliott's academic background includes an Associate of Arts in elementary education and teaching from Lincoln College, conferred in 1992, a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education and teaching from Eureka College, awarded in 1994, a master's degree in education administration from Bradley University, completed in 2007, and an Education Specialist Degree in superintendent educational leadership and administration from Western Illinois University, earned in 2017.

Throughout his career, Mr. Elliott has been actively involved in several professional and civic organizations. He is a member of the Illinois Association of School Administrators and contributes to the strategic planning committee of the Illinois High School Association. He also serves on the executive board of Henry-Stark Counties Special Education District, serves as chair of the BoGar Industries Governing Board (Wyoming, IL.), is an advisory board member for Ag in the Classroom through the Farm Bureau, and is an active member of the Wyoming Lions Club.

Mr. Elliott's dedication has been recognized with close to two dozen awards, including an Excellence in Customer Service and Morale Award from Peoria Public Schools in 2014, an Extraordinary Leadership Award from AppsCo. in 2018, and an In-Sight Award for Leadership from Maui Jim in 2019. He was also named Administrator of the Year by the Peoria Council for Exceptional Children in 2015, High School Principal of the Year from the Central Illinois Valley, Illinois Principals Association, in 2016, Illinois State High School Principal of the Year from the Illinois State Board of Education in 2018, and was named Administrator of the Year from the Illinois Journalism Education Association in 2019. Among other accolades, Mr. Elliott was recently honored with an Excellence in Education award by Stark County Farm Bureau in 2025 and 2026.

Mr. Elliott credits his success to guidance from numerous mentors throughout his career, emphasizing humility, continuous learning and sharing ideas as essential qualities for growth. He strives to serve as a role model for students, teachers, staff and the broader community by acknowledging that not all answers are known, but that improvement is always possible through optimism and daily effort.

Reflecting on his career, Mr. Elliott's inspiration for entering education stemmed from a formative high school experience when he witnessed a student being dismissed by a teacher who doubted the student's potential. Eager for the future, he remains dedicated to establishing a lasting cultural shift at Stark County Community Unit School District Number 100 through community-building initiatives that will result in improved facilities and a supportive environment for students, staff and residents alike, guided by his PHEARCE Philosophy and principle of leaving every place better than he found it.
