Earlier in his career, Mr. McDermott founded Silhouette Consulting Services, Inc., where he provided strategic cybersecurity and risk advisory services to organizations navigating network intrusions, litigation, and complex threat environments. That work informed his broader expertise in digital investigations, incident response, and enterprise risk management.

From 2016 to 2021, Mr. McDermott served as a senior advisor and testifying expert to the Executive Office of the President at the White House. Over the course of three administrations, he provided expert counsel on matters involving national cybersecurity policy, digital investigations, and incident response. During this period, he also designed and implemented a modernized forensic laboratory in support of the Executive Office, an initiative that produced enduring operational impact.

Previously, Mr. McDermott served as Vice President of Information Security and Digital Forensics at Innovative Discovery from 2017 to 2019, where he oversaw critical security operations and led forensic initiatives supporting litigation and investigative matters for federal agencies and Fortune 500 clients.

Earlier in his career, he served as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors at Brand Technologies, guiding the risk intelligence firm through significant growth in threat detection and online risk analytics. He also held senior leadership roles at Trustpoint.One, where he served as Managing Director of Digital Forensics and Litigation Support, and at Aon Consulting, where he managed digital forensics and incident response programs addressing large-scale cyber incidents and complex investigations.

Mr. McDermott began his career at T-Mobile, where from 1996 to 2006 he served as Manager of Digital Investigations and led the Computer Incident Response Team. During this period, he also directed investigations involving large-scale security incidents and contributed to efforts focused on locating at-risk and abducted children, work he regards as among his most meaningful professional contributions.

His commitment to public service is further reflected in more than a decade of volunteer work with the New York Electronic Crime Task Force, where he supported investigations involving cybercrime, financial system intrusions, and digital fraud. He considers this experience among his most significant professional achievements and intends to continue supporting similar efforts in the future.

Mr. McDermott maintains active affiliations with several professional organizations, including the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the Electronic Crime Task Force, and the High Technology Crime Investigation Association.

He completed collegiate coursework at The Pennsylvania State University and Carnegie Mellon University and has pursued extensive professional certifications throughout his career. These include credentials in digital forensics, information security management, cybersecurity, and investigative methodologies, reflecting his longstanding commitment to professional rigor and continuous learning.
