FAIRFIELD, IA, April 02, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David L. Hawk, PhD, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Marked by an outstanding career that spans more than five decades across multiple industries, Dr. Hawk has served as a director of the Center for Corporate Rehabilitation since 2005, guiding the organization through more than 20 years of research and development in corporate renewal, organizational health and environmental advocacy. His expertise in systems science and international business has been pivotal in shaping the center's innovative approaches to business transformation and sustainability, drawing on his extensive academic background and global experience.

From 2016 to 2019, Dr. Hawk excelled as chief executive officer of the Foundation of the Eternal Feminine, where he oversaw initiatives focused on gender equity, societal advancement and women's rights around the world. His tenure was marked by strategic partnerships and advocacy for inclusive leadership models, all with the goal of helping humanity find an improved balance with nature.

Over the course of 15 years, Dr. Hawk held the position of senior advisor at China Construction America, Inc., where he played a pivotal role in the company's remarkable growth from $30 billion to $200 billion per year. His strategic counsel contributed significantly to the expansion of its operations and market presence, establishing new benchmarks for international business development.

Dr. Hawk also served as both dean and professor at the Schools of Architecture and Management at New Jersey Institute of Technology from 1981 to 2013. Driving collaboration between architecture, management and environmental studies, he was instrumental in advancing curriculum development and interdisciplinary research throughout the university.

As a visiting lecturer at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, from 2004 to 2012, Dr. Hawk contributed to cross-cultural academic exchange and leadership development at the School of Public Policy and Management. He was recognized as a lecturer by the Leadership Council in China in 2007, further cementing his reputation as an authority on international business education.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Hawk extended his influence beyond academia through advisory work with Ikea in the 1970s, during which he assisted the company in re-entering the United States market and selecting Philadelphia as a key location. The president of Ikea frequently lectured in Dr. Hawk's classes in New Jersey, reflecting a strong partnership between academia and industry.

Dr. Hawk also co-founded and served as a visiting professor at the Institute of International Business at Stockholm School of Economics from 1975 to 1996. His work there — which included a project being presented at the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OCED) in Paris by the prime minister of Sweden — laid the foundation for collaborative research endeavors involving multiple companies and governments, focusing on industrial practices and environmental impact.

From 1979 to 1981, Dr. Hawk was an assistant professor at Iowa State University's College of Design, where he taught courses integrating design thinking with systems analysis and established new graduate programs as well as research funding sources. He began his educational journey as a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Pennsylvania in 1972 after working as an architect and planning officer for the City of Westminster in London the year before.

Hailing from an equally robust academic background of his own, Dr. Hawk earned a Doctor of Philosophy in system science and international business from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1979 as well as a Master of Architecture and a master's degree in city planning from the University of Pennsylvania in 1974. He also obtained a bachelor's degree in engineering from Iowa State University in 1971, organizing a study abroad group in 1970 that equipped him with invaluable cultural experience living in Finland and Germany.

Dr. Hawk's lifelong commitment to understanding and improving relations between humans and nature began during his childhood on an Iowa farm and was further shaped by his experiences serving with a helicopter squadron during the Vietnam War. Witnessing firsthand the consequences of human actions on nature and society inspired him to pursue higher education and make a lasting positive impact on these issues for both current and future generations.

For his doctoral research at The Wharton School, Dr. Hawk initiated a groundbreaking project on environmental protection that required relocating to Sweden due to limited opportunities for such studies in United States business schools at that time. At Stockholm School of Economics, he collaborated with colleagues over nearly two decades to launch an institute dedicated to examining industrial practices and environmental deterioration — a project that attracted participation from 20 companies and six governments.

Known for his contributions as a civic-minded citizen, Dr. Hawk has served as a commission member and testifier for the Organization for Net Neutrality since 2015, advocating for equal internet access for all throughout the United States. He was also a contributor to the National Research Council of the National Academies from 2003 to 2004, furthering science and technology initiatives through his work with a 14-person committee of experts as well as the White House.

Widely recognized for his impact on education as well as climate change and economics platforms, Dr. Hawk was named Man of the Year by the Top 100 Registry of Business Leaders and Professionals in 2023 and recognized as the International Professor of the Year by IBM in association with the New Jersey Institute of Technology in 2004. Furthermore, he was previously selected for inclusion in Who's Who of Insight Magazine in 2024 as well as Who's Who in America in 2021.

Also a prolific author, Dr. Hawk has published several influential works on human nature and climate ethics including 2025's "The Climate is Changing, Can Humans?" and 2022's "Too Early, Too Late, Now What?" which has since been republished as "Sorry, but Humans are F***ed: Climate Change from Human Limitations" by Urlink Print & Media. Earlier in his career, he published "Changelessness and Other Impediments to Systems Change," which utilizes key events from 5th Century Greece and China to examine humans' relationship to change.

Dr. Hawk's expertise has attracted attention beyond academia; he is currently negotiating the adaptation rights for one of his books with Netflix as well as a production group based in Tokyo, Japan. Determined to further his impact in the coming years, he remains committed to effecting economic, cultural and systemic change as well as equality for the long-term benefit of individuals, communities and nations worldwide. He is currently working with NBC's Executive Director in creating a 6 session movie series of his ideas and experience.
