Mr. Lewis has established himself as an expert in sterile injectables over a distinguished 30-year career in the pharmaceutical industry. His professional journey is marked by progressive leadership roles and a commitment to operational excellence, team development and strategic business growth.
Since 2025, Mr. Lewis has served as platform director for injectables at CordenPharma, a full-service contract development and manufacturing organization in Wilmington, North Carolina. In this capacity, he is responsible for expanding the company's business across the U.S. and North America. He presents CordenPharma's value proposition and capabilities to prospective clients, collaborates with the sales team to secure new business and finalize agreements, and manages proposals for new business, including technical content, review and pricing approval. Navigating a complex geopolitical environment, Mr. Lewis has played a pivotal role in maintaining strong relationships with U.S. customers despite the company's manufacturing operations being based in Western Europe. Amid industry trends favoring domestic manufacturing and uncertainty regarding tariffs, he notably helped CordenPharma to deliver on its commitments to the board during his first year, an achievement he credits to a robust product lineup, exceptional team members and advanced technologies.
Before joining CordenPharma, Mr. Lewis was a senior manager of business development for pharmaceutical development services at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. in Greenville-Washington, North Carolina, from 2019 to 2025. In this role, he was instrumental in driving business growth by identifying new opportunities and fostering client relationships within the pharmaceutical sector.
Between 2017 and 2019, Mr. Lewis worked as a site director for Wilmington operations at Alcami (AAIPharma Services Corp., Cambridge Major Laboratories Inc.) in Wilmington. In 2016 and 2017, he served as a senior manufacturing manager for the organization.
Earlier, Mr. Lewis spent over 15 years at Baxter International Inc., beginning in 1995 as a senior chemist and quality assurance associate in North Cove, North Carolina. He then became a quality manager for chemistry and stability at Baxter International Inc.'s Westlake Village facility in California, a quality manager II for post-market and supplier activities at Baxter International Inc.'s McGaw Park location in Illinois, and an aseptic filling manufacturing manager II in Bloomington, Indiana. Mr. Lewis's last role with Baxter was as a (Finishing department) manufacturing manager II from 2010 to 2016 in Bloomington. In this capacity, he managed a packaging department comprising 150 employees, including supervisors and operators. He prioritized developing his team members and fostering their professional growth. At one point, Mr. Lewis had 10 to 12 supervisors reporting directly to him. Under his mentorship, six were promoted or transitioned into other roles within Baxter International Inc., reflecting his dedication to recognizing contributions and challenging his staff to excel.
Mr. Lewis's academic background includes earning a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1993. This rigorous scientific education provided him with the technical foundation necessary for success in highly regulated pharmaceutical environments.
Throughout his career, Mr. Lewis has been recognized for operational excellence and leadership. Among his accolades was the prestigious Shingo Prize awarded during his tenure at Baxter International Inc., which honors organizations demonstrating world-class operational performance. Mr. Lewis credits his achievements to humility, a people-first approach and an ability to simplify complex concepts. These qualities have enabled him to market sterile injectable services effectively by making them accessible even to those without technical backgrounds.
Mr. Lewis is dedicated to strengthening CordenPharma's reputation as a competitive partner within the U.S. injectables market as the company invests in new manufacturing lines and increased production capacity. He is also committed to positioning CordenPharma's injectables among the industry's leading offerings relative to companies of similar size while advancing standardization across diverse regulatory environments, including navigating complexities between U.S. Food and Drug Administration requirements and those of the European Medicines Agency. Moreover, Mr. Lewis intends to leverage his extensive experience by engaging industry colleagues in a variety of public forums, offering guidance on topics ranging from early-phase clinical trials through commercial operations, while continuing to make meaningful contributions on an international scale.
