KATY, TX, April 06, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Tennyson Smith II has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Smith has distinguished himself as a leader in faith-based counseling, currently serving as the chief servant officer of Vital 2 Life Ministries. In this capacity, he leads the organization's counseling ministry, acting as the primary counselor and designated clinical supervisor. Dr. Smith oversees the integration of faith-based principles into counseling practices, ensuring that care remains accessible and of the highest quality for those in need.
Among his daily objectives, Dr. Smith is responsible for training and mentoring counselors across the country, guiding them in both clinical excellence and spiritual sensitivity. Under his leadership, Vital 2 Life Ministries has become a sanctuary for survivors of trauma, particularly those who have experienced rape, childhood molestation and other forms of abuse. Dr. Smith is most proud of offering free counseling to nearly 10 individuals each week, a labor of love made possible through generous donations. By removing financial barriers, he provides a safe space where individuals can confront their past and experience healing in Christ.
Before his current role, Dr. Smith served as a corporate human resources business partner at Bristow from 2014 to 2015. In this position, he contributed to organizational development by supporting talent acquisition and employee relations initiatives. Dr. Smith's expertise in human resources was also honed during his tenure as a regional recruiter at My Future Consulting Inc. between 2013 and 2014, where he identified and placed top talent for client organizations.
From 2006 to 2013, Dr. Smith worked as an account executive at Kellogg Company. There, he managed key accounts and developed strategic partnerships that contributed to the company's growth in competitive markets. His earlier tenure included military service in the U.S. Army Reserve, a testament to his dedication to serving others both within and beyond his professional sphere.
Dr. Smith's academic achievements have played a pivotal role in shaping his career and ministry. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in business from Indiana University, Bloomington, and a Master of Business Administration from Liberty University. He later acquired a Doctor of Philosophy in clinical Christian counseling from The Jewish Theological Seminary, equipping him with advanced knowledge to address complex trauma through both spiritual and psychological frameworks.
A professional journey marked by his expertise in counseling and his commitment to integrating faith with clinical practice, Dr. Smith further distinguishes himself in the field as a member of the National Christian Counselors Association. Through this membership, he has access to ongoing professional development and remains up to date on ethical standards in the counseling sector.
Beyond his professional commitments, Dr. Smith has demonstrated civic engagement through various roles. Since 2010, he has been involved with Watch Dogs at Katy Independent School District, contributing to school safety and community involvement. Earlier, he served as a prayer and care pastor at Parkway Fellowship in Katy and Richmond, Texas, providing spiritual guidance and support to congregants during times of need.
The foundation of Dr. Smith's calling emerged from personal tragedy after his daughter was assaulted in Houston, a moment that revealed the urgent need for accessible, faith-based counseling for survivors of trauma. While completing his doctorate in 2019, he founded Vital 2 Life Ministries under the National Christian Counselors Association to serve those who felt unseen or could not afford care. When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, the ministry became a timely refuge for many experiencing isolation and despair.
Dr. Smith attributes his success foremost to Jesus, recognizing that none of his work would be possible without divine guidance. He also acknowledges the steadfast support of his family, whose encouragement sustains him daily. Notably, Dr. Smith's wife holds a master's degree from Liberty University and is a hospice nurse, author and counselor specializing in trauma recovery for women. Together, they share a deep passion and compassion for their shared mission.
Looking ahead, Dr. Smith envisions expanding Vital 2 Life Ministries with permanent locations throughout Houston staffed by bilingual counselors to better serve the city's large Hispanic population, including survivors of human trafficking, single mothers and widows facing hidden trauma. His long-term goal is to establish a comprehensive counseling and ministry center that functions as both a place of healing and a community hub, offering scholarships, seasonal programs and ongoing support for those most in need.
