In 2025, she began serving as an educational consultant in special education at Light House Learning Resource in Houston. In this capacity, she develops trainings per district request, to support teachers in managing student schedules, preparing instructional materials, and designing targeted strategies and interventions for students with sensory, communication, and structural challenges. Ms. Irvine also supports teachers with behavior management, ensures that programming needs are met, and provides essential classroom resources. Her work includes organizing training presentations for parents and educators, planning conferences for early childhood professionals and conducting online trainings for families worldwide.

Beyond her primary roles within school districts, Ms. Irvine has contributed globally as a teacher trainer with Bob Hartman International Ministries between 2014 and 2016. In this capacity, she has been instrumental in furthering educational initiatives abroad through seminars focused on inclusive practices for children with special needs.

Between 2019 and 2025, Ms. Irvine excelled as a program specialist for elementary LIFE Skills at Katy Independent School District in Texas. She led professional development for LIFE Skills teachers across more than 40 elementary schools, supporting approximately 42-50 classrooms as the district grew. Ms. Irvine's responsibilities included ensuring compliance with educational standards, implementing critical skill components within the specialized LIFE Skills programs, assisting teachers with behavior interventions, curriculum development, and providing hands-on support throughout the district. Administrators frequently sought her expertise to better understand the unique needs of life skills classrooms.

Ms. Irvine's tenure at Katy Independent School District began in 2005 as a LIFE Skills teacher, a role she held until 2017, during which she taught students with a variety of disabilities, including autism, Down syndrome and neurological conditions. She then served as a Young Children with Autism Program teacher from 2017 to 2018, utilizing the Treatment and Education of Autistic and Related Communication Handicapped Children (TEACCH) philosophy alongside applied behavior analysis techniques to design individualized instruction plans that promoted student growth and independence.

Among, Ms. Irvine's earlier roles, she taught as an autism classroom teacher at Boerne Middle School South, part of Boerne Independent School District, from 2001 to 2005, was an autism classroom special education teacher at Central Elementary, part of Duncanville Independent School District, between 1995 to 2001, was a special education resource teacher at Castle Hills Elementary, part of North East Independent School District, from 1992 to 1995. Her teaching career dates back to 1985, when she began as a special education teacher at Margaret Chapman School for Exceptional Children in Hawthorne, New York.

Ms. Irvine also excelled as a consultant to teachers, parents, and school districts through Holly and Ivy Autism Specialist from 2014 to 2025. During this period, she provided guidance on best practices for supporting students with autism and collaborated with educators and families to foster inclusive learning environments. Ms. Irvine's international work during these years stands as a career highlight. Invited by Bob Hartman International Ministries, she traveled to Budapest, Hungary, and Moldova between 2014 and 2016 to deliver professional development seminars for general education teachers. In Moldova, a country transitioning toward inclusive education, she trained teachers on integrating students with special needs into mainstream classrooms. Over 3 years and four visits, Ms. Irvine equipped educators with research-based tools and ongoing support, helping them overcome initial apprehensions and successfully implement new strategies.

Highly educated, Ms. Irvine received a Bachelor of Arts in special education and teaching from the University of Sioux Falls in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, in 1984. She was then given coursework in behavioral science at Teachers College, Columbia University, in New York City in 1985, where she developed foundational behavioral strategies that became integral to her instructional planning. Additionally, Ms. Irvine acquired a Master of Education in educational psychology with an emphasis on autism from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas in 2009. Her master's degree included a grant-funded program specifically for LIFE Skills classroom educators, allowing her to immediately apply advanced knowledge in her classroom.

Ms. Irvine's professional credentials include certifications in general special education, emotional disturbance/autism and English as a second language from the United Latino Students Association. She also completed level I and II TEACCH training courses at the University of North Carolina and received a Texas teaching certificate.

Throughout her career, Ms. Irvine has distinguished herself through her unwavering commitment to structure, routine and collaboration with parents, valuing their insights as central to student success. She is known for meticulous preparation, often working late hours to ensure every lesson is tailored to individual needs. Ms. Irvine's dedication has also extended beyond the classroom, providing mentorship to new teachers by modeling effective systems that foster differentiated instruction while maintaining high expectations for all learners.

In recognition of her achievements, Ms. Irvine has received various honors, including the Smart Board Activity Preparation Grant awarded by the Katy Independent School District Education Foundation Organization in 2013. However, her most notable accomplishment was her international work in Moldova, where she trained general education teachers who initially lacked experience or confidence in working with students with special needs or behavioral challenges. By introducing new classroom layouts, sharing materials brought from the U.S. and providing ongoing encouragement, she witnessed firsthand how educators implemented these strategies. Ms. Irvine attributes her success not only to formal education but also to compassion, active listening and continuous learning from experts, such as occupational therapists and principals with behavioral backgrounds.

Looking ahead, Ms. Irvine intends to expand her impact both globally and locally in special education by pursuing further international collaborations while supporting underserved communities around Houston through curriculum development at Light House Learning Resource. She also remains committed to creating resources that empower parents and educators alike, ensuring that children's needs are addressed both at home and within inclusive classroom settings.
