SAN DIEGO, CA, April 07, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rubina Feroze Bhatti, PhD, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Over a career spanning more than 20 years, she has held prominent academic, civic, and nonprofit roles in Pakistan and internationally. Since 2023, she has established a distinguished career as an international development and strategic leadership consultant as an independent contractor. In this capacity, she collaborates with various universities and nonprofit organizations, leveraging her expertise to foster stronger coordination among the government, the nonprofit sector and business leaders in Pakistan and abroad. Her work is particularly focused on strengthening ties between United States-based nonprofits and Pakistan, notably through her engagement with the Pakistan Congressional Caucus and the Punjab government. On March 24, 2026, she, together with Mike Brickley, received joint recognition from the Congressional Pakistan Caucus at the Pak–US Symposium for their outstanding efforts in strengthening Pakistan–US relations through addressing social issues.

Dr. Bhatti's civic involvement is equally notable. She first served as the Member for Punjab on the National Commission on the Rights of the Child, the apex government body for child rights in Pakistan, overseeing child rights across the province of Punjab. Her appointment marked a significant milestone for minority representation within decision-making structures traditionally inaccessible to Christian women from rural backgrounds. Building on this experience, she focused on minority children's rights, coordinating with then-Senator Kamran Michael and then-Member of the National Assembly Naveed Amir Jeeva to raise the minimum marriage age for Christian girls from 13 to 18—a landmark legislative reform protecting child rights. Nationally, she has received the Minority Excellence Award from the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the Highest Achievement Award (2023), and both the Performance Award and Human Rights Award (2022) from the Government of Punjab for her work on child rights. She was further recognized with the Human Rights Leadership Awards for five consecutive years (2017–2021). Her influence has been acknowledged through her inclusion in The News International's "Movers & Shakers" (2015) and Newsweek Pakistan's "Top 100 Most Influential Pakistani Women" (2011), alongside several other honors for leadership, human rights, and community impact.

Dr. Bhatti served as General Secretary (2003–2016) and Executive Director (2017–2020) of Taangh Wasaib Organization, leading its internationally recognized work on human rights, gender equality, religious tolerance, and economic empowerment of marginalized communities, while driving policy, grassroots mobilization, and social justice across Pakistan. Her contributions have been recognized with several prestigious international awards: she received the N-Peace Award from the United Nations Development Programme in 2015; was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize alongside 1,000 women in 2005; and was honored with the Women of Courage Award for her service to the Taangh Wasaib Organization. She is also the secretary-general of the board of directors of the Pakistan Partnership Initiative, a network comprising more than 80 nonprofit and faith-based organizations dedicated to social development across Pakistan. Additionally, Dr. Bhatti continues to serve on the board of directors for Taangh Wasaib Organization.

Dr. Bhatti began her professional journey as a lecturer in chemistry at Government College for Women in Sargodha from 1996 to 2000. This early experience as a chemist and educator laid the foundation for her later transition into human rights activism, a shift motivated by her experiences as a minority woman facing social and legal discrimination. Later, she served as an Assistant Professor at Pakistan Global Institute, mentoring the next generation of development and leadership scholars. She was a Visiting Scholar at Eastern Mennonite University, Virginia in 2011, focusing on peacebuilding initiatives, and later served as Project Lead for the Women's Leadership Dialogue for Change at the University of San Diego, California (2013–2014), facilitating cross-cultural exchanges to empower emerging women leaders. Her international academic influence continued with appointments as a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University (2023–2024), advancing research on gender equality and interfaith harmony, and as an International Visiting Scholar at American University in 2025, contributing to global dialogues on human rights and minority issues.

Her academic achievements are extensive and have significantly contributed to her professional success. Dr. Bhatti earned a Doctor of Philosophy in leadership studies from the University of San Diego in 2015. Her doctoral research examined women leaders in turbulent environments, revealing their focus on organizational challenges while often neglecting self-care, a theme reflected in her advocacy work. She holds a master's degree in development studies from the Kimmage Development Studies Centre, Ireland, completed in 2008. Dr. Bhatti also earned a Master of Science in chemistry from Bahauddin Zakariya University in 1993 and a Bachelor of Science in chemistry, zoology and botany from Punjab University in 1990.

A prolific writer and thought leader, Dr. Bhatti has extensively published on interfaith harmony, gender equality, child rights, education reform, minority empowerment, and inclusive leadership. Her insightful commentary and analysis have appeared in prominent outlets, including The Friday Times, Dawn, The Express Tribune, and The News, addressing topics from empowering young women and fostering peacebuilding to examining structural challenges faced by minorities in Pakistan. Beyond journalism, her practical contributions include translating Aman Ka Tasawar (Vision of Peace) into Urdu.

Born in a small village in Sargodha into a landless peasant community, Dr. Bhatti was inspired by her parents, both school teachers, who dedicated their lives to educating the underserved. This legacy shaped her lifelong commitment to education and advocacy, particularly her work against bonded labor in the agriculture and brick industry, a practice affecting millions across Pakistan. Dr. Bhatti balances her professional mission with personal responsibilities, living with her widowed sister-in-law and mentoring her two nephews—Ateer Bhatti, a passionate reader and writer, and Ataan Bhatti, an aspiring aerospace engineer. She also enjoys mentoring community children, traveling, and nurturing friendships that provide balance amid demanding work. Throughout her career, Dr. Bhatti has demonstrated courage and resilience, even in the face of threats from extremist groups, relying on collaboration with diverse stakeholders and pragmatic, solution-driven approaches.

Looking ahead, Dr. Bhatti is committed to eradicating bonded labor within Pakistan's brick industry by promoting modernization and mechanization that can create dignified employment opportunities for those historically marginalized by this practice providing them education and employment as her parents struggled for. Dr. Bhatti's journey exemplifies resilience in the face of adversity while redefining narratives around minority leadership, emerging not as a victim but as an influential leader whose contributions continue to shape policy, empower communities and inspire future generations across Pakistan and beyond.
