CHALFONT, PA, April 08, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Melissa Hallowell has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Demonstrating a commitment to creating environments that reflect each client's individuality, Ms. Hallowell has established herself as a leading expert in residential design. As the founder and lead designer of MDH Designs, established in 2012, she has guided the firm with a philosophy centered on attentive listening and a deep understanding of her clients' daily lives, family dynamics and personal preferences. Rather than imposing a signature style, she focuses on crafting spaces that authentically reflect her clients' personalities and lived experiences.
During her tenure at MDH Designs, Ms. Hallowell completed an exceptional residential project in Costa Rica, regarded as one of her most significant professional achievements and widely recognized by industry peers. Another notable milestone was receiving her first nomination for Best of Bucks County, affirming her position among the region's top designers. Her work has also been featured in House & Home magazine, further solidifying her reputation for excellence.
In addition to her work at MDH Designs, Ms. Hallowell served as a designer specialist at Volpe Tile and Bella Marble in Warminster, Pennsylvania, from 2015 to 2017, where she expanded her expertise in material selection and client consultation. Concurrently, she worked as a customer service manager at Yarrington Mills Inc. in Hatboro from 2012 to 2015, overseeing client relations and ensuring consistency in material shipping and delivery operations.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Hallowell gained valuable experience as an interior designer at Dashing Designs Inc., where she developed her skills in project management, design selection and creative execution over nearly five years. In 2007, she served as a design manager at Busybee Design and as an interior designer at Alexander Perry Inc., further strengthening her leadership abilities and technical expertise.
She began her professional journey as a design assistant at Taylor & Taylor Designs from 2001 to 2002, followed by roles at Le Montage Interior Design Inc. from 2002 to 2006 and Malvern Design Workshop from 2006 to 2007. These formative experiences contributed to her expertise in custom cabinetry, kitchen design and client service.
Ms. Hallowell earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in interior design, with a minor in art history, from Moore College of Art and Design in 2001. Her formal training in color theory has played a significant role in shaping her creative process, particularly her focus on how light interacts with color and how color influences perception and behavior—principles that continue to guide her work.
Her decision to pursue interior design was influenced by a family background rooted in construction and engineering. With a father who is a civil engineer, an uncle who is a forensic engineer and a grandfather who built homes, Ms. Hallowell was exposed to construction from an early age. Hands-on experiences, including assisting with family building projects and drafting work for her father, complemented her artistic interests. Her mother's passion for furniture restoration further enriched her creative foundation.
Before founding MDH Designs, Ms. Hallowell co-owned an entertainment business but ultimately sought a more fulfilling and sustainable career path. Her experience working at high-end design firms also highlighted the challenges designers face without adequate support, reinforcing her desire to build an independent and well-supported business.
Beyond her professional work, Ms. Hallowell is dedicated to community involvement and charitable initiatives. She actively participates in Business Women Networking Involving Charity & Education (BW NICE), reflecting her commitment to supporting local causes and empowering women in business.
A devoted mother of one daughter, Ms. Hallowell also maintains an active lifestyle and enjoys sculpture, life drawing, Muay Thai and kickboxing. She credits her success to the unwavering support of her family, which continues to inspire both her personal and professional growth.
Looking ahead, Ms. Hallowell plans to further expand MDH Designs, broadening its reach and enhancing its capabilities to take on increasingly complex and high-end projects.
