GLOUCESTER, MA, April 16, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Joseph M. Calomo, PharmD, SHRM-SCP, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Marked by more than two decades of experience, Dr. Calomo has led a distinguished career at the intersection of health care leadership, pharmacy operations and strategic consulting. Since 2021, he has served as the chief operating officer of Roshal Health, where he provides strategic leadership to a diverse team of more than 800 employees across multiple functional groups. Responsible for delivering health care services to over 200 clients across the United States and internationally, he develops standard processes within finance and analytics, regulatory and compliance, human resources, customer success and project management.

Utilizing Lean Six Sigma concepts to reduce waste and enhance gross margins, Dr. Calomo has redesigned operational workflows, established regional management positions and development programs, and created a yearlong emerging leaders training program. His initiatives include implementing performance improvement and merit plans across the organization, developing key performance indicators to track and communicate success, improving gross margin and enhancing quality assessment and site inspection processes.

In addition to his role at Roshal Health, Dr. Calomo serves as president of JBC Consulting, which he established in 2020. Through his consultancy, he continues to provide his expert guidance on organizational strategy, operational efficiency and leadership development for various health care organizations.

Prior to founding his consultancy firm, Dr. Calomo excelled as chief operating officer of Apothecare Pharmacy in Brockton, Massachusetts, from 2019 to 2020, during which he led operational improvements across human resources, logistics and pharmaceutical operations.

From 2017 to 2019, Dr. Calomo served as president of the TeleHealth Division at Comprehensive Pharmacy Services (CPS), overseeing telehealth initiatives that expanded access to pharmacy amenities throughout the United States. Initially joining CPS in 2011, he contributed his expertise to the State Office of Pharmacy Services in Massachusetts until 2016, managing pharmacy operations and clinical services across the New England region.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Calomo excelled as the director of strategy and strategic planning at Walgreens in Deerfield, Illinois, from 2006 to 2009 — the second of two spells with the retail pharmacy giant. During his initial tenure from 1995 to 2003, he initiated the immunization program in 1999 — a pioneering effort that faced significant resistance due to its departure from the company's traditional focus on medication dispensing. Despite initial pushback that nearly resulted in reprimand for stepping outside established protocols, his vision ultimately contributed to expanding Walgreens' renowned service offerings.

Also known for his contributions to the academic realm, Dr. Calomo served as an adjunct assistant professor of pharmacy at the School of Pharmacy at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Boston from 2006 to 2018. He previously held the role of assistant dean of experiential education and professional affairs at the same institution from 2003 to 2006 and began his educational career as an assistant professor of pharmacy, taking great pride in connecting with and watching the growth of his students.

Alongside his primary roles, Dr. Calomo has been recognized for his leadership and commitment to advancing pharmacy practice. He was recognized as a fellow of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy in 2005 and has been inducted into several honor societies including Phi Lambda Sigma in 2006 and the Rho Chi Society in 1997. Furthermore, he is a member of industry organizations such as the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the Primary Care Collaborative and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

Dr. Calomo's equally accomplished scholastic background has been pivotal in shaping his multifaceted career. He earned a Doctor of Pharmacy from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in 1997 after completing a Bachelor of Science at the same institution in 1995. He went on to obtain a Master of Business Administration from Suffolk University in 2001.

Dedicated to the ideals of continuous learning, Dr. Calomo was certified as a senior professional by SHRM in 2024 and became a board-certified medication therapy management specialist in 2019. To enhance his leadership capabilities, he was certified as a business intelligence professional by Villanova University in 2014 and earned a Six Sigma green belt in health care in 2011. Additionally, he completed the Executive Leadership Fellows Program with the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) and is licensed as a pharmacist in both Massachusetts and Illinois. Dr. Calomo is currently enrolled in Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare Certification Program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Civic engagement is another central aspect of Dr. Calomo's life. He volunteered with Lifeboat Ministries in Northshore Boston from 2019 to 2020, served on the board of directors for the Massachusetts Pharmacist Association from 2004 to 2006 and contributed as an editorial board member for BioScience Communications from 1999 to 2001. Additionally, he participated on the Disease State Management Review Committee with the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy in Chicago, is a past president of the Gloucester Education Foundation and has remained a volunteer with the Gloucester Education Foundation.

Reflecting on his storied journey thus far, Dr. Calomo attributes his achievements to the values instilled in him by his parents, both of whom emphasized hard work over innate intelligence, and continues to follow his father's advice by surrounding himself with individuals who are smarter or stronger than himself.

Dr. Calomo's steadfast commitment to excellence in pharmacy operations and health care leadership has seen him recognized through numerous accolades over the years. In honor of his contributions to CPS, he was named Pharmacist of the Year by the Massachusetts Pharmacist Association in 2013 and received the Hershmann Award for Outstanding Leadership in 2012. Also acknowledged for his long-term success at Walgreens, he was presented with the Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award in 2000.

Determined to further his impact in the coming years, Dr. Calomo aims to continue expanding Roshal Health while nurturing future leaders within the industry. Ultimately, he aspires to dedicate himself to coaching others — mentoring individuals as they identify their strengths and advance professionally — reflecting both his passion for leadership development and his enduring commitment to providing the highest quality of services within the health care sector.
