A significant milestone in Gould's career was the founding of Link Up Services Limited in 1981, a recruitment and language business. He sold the recruitment sector for in 1997 and expanded the language sector to focus on translation and interpreting. This business became one of the top fifteen language companies globally under the name thebigword. He served as CEO until 2021 when he sold the majority of his shares. Today, he still retains a board position. Gould is particularly proud of the comprehensive training programs he developed for interpreters working in high-stress environments, such as prisons, hospitals, war zones, and, indeed, board rooms. These initiatives addressed not only language proficiency but also coping mechanisms for stress and emotional challenges faced by interpreters.

Gould's entrepreneurial ventures also include serving as chief executive officer of JDI Properties Ltd since 2016 and authoring two books, The Making of Mr. Irresistible and Great Retirement, Great Sex. From 2011 to 2022, he co-founded the International School of Linguists with Leeds Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom, contributing to the advancement of linguistic education. Earlier in his career, he was European sales manager for AMF Inc from 1974 to 1980, covering the whole of Europe.

He received an honorary doctorate in business administration from Leeds Metropolitan University in recognition of his work supporting interpreters and advancing training standards within the language industry.
