Ms. Marino has established a distinguished career in education spanning three decades, marked by her commitment to advancing student achievement and fostering inclusive learning environments. Since 2020, she has served as a District Administrator for Proviso Township High School District 209, where she oversees instructional resources across three high school campuses, including two general-education high schools and a selective-enrollment math and science academy. In this capacity, Ms. Marino managed English and Fine Arts programs to ensure equitable access to high quality curriculum and instruction at Proviso East High School, Proviso West High School, and Proviso Math and Science Academy.

As the Director of Curriculum, Ms. Marino's responsibilities include managing core resources, textbooks, workbooks, and other supplementary texts as well as digital licenses for online access to eBooks and expanded classroom materials. In this new district role, Ms. Marino developed a 5-year curriculum renewal cycle in order to prioritize summer curriculum writing and textbook adoptions. She also established district processes for new course creation as well as selection of textbooks, novels, and other instructional resources. An important aspect of the position is aligning curriculum to the Illinois Learning Standards and designing the Academic Programs and Course Catalog to meet Illinois State Board of Education requirements for secondary schools. Based on the needs of the district, Ms. Marino determines annual funding for curriculum updates, professional learning opportunities for teachers, and upgrades to digital materials. Additionally, Ms. Marino conducts interviews with teachers interested in curriculum development and assists with district-wide assessments and initiatives including classroom visits and instructional coaching.

A highlight of Ms. Marino's tenure as a District Administrator at Proviso has been her dedication to removing barriers that prevent students from reaching their full potential. She is particularly proud of increasing access to advanced placement courses by eliminating the requirement for teacher recommendations; now any student may enroll, provided they have taken pre-requisite courses and understand the expectations. This change reflects her commitment to valuing every student's uniqueness and ensuring equitable opportunities for academic advancement. Ms. Marino works tirelessly to advocate academic program options for students, collaborating with the central administrative team, building leaders, counselors, teachers, Board Members, and foundation schools, aiming to set students up for success and open new avenues for exploration and achievement.

Prior to her current role, Ms. Marino accumulated extensive experience as an English, Speech, Theatre, and Music teacher in the Chicago area from 1992 to 2020. During this period, she developed expertise in supporting diverse learners, including students with special needs and English language learners, populations she identified as often underserved. Her work in this area deepened her understanding of how students acquire knowledge and skills and informed her approach to leading other educators. Ms. Marino emphasizes discovering each student's preferred learning style to enhance their educational experience.

During her career, Ms. Marino also held the positions of English Department Chair, Division Head for English and Fine Arts, Fine Arts Curriculum Director, and English Language Learner Coordinator as part of Instructional Leadership Teams where she led curricular initiatives and advocated for student-centered instruction. As a high school English teacher with over 20 years of classroom experience, she is dedicated to uplifting students and helping them develop positive self-concepts, a focus that remains central to her teaching philosophy and leadership style.

Among many remembrances through the years, Ms. Marino has fond memories of her years teaching English at Glenbard North High School in Carol Stream and John Hersey High School in Arlington Heights. She recalls teachable moments with her students who were struggling with life's challenges and seeking her counsel. Ms. Marino remembers helping students "find their place in the world" by embracing their talents and trusting their inner voice. These interactions have stayed with her through numerous roles and served as inspiration for her unrelenting efforts to advocate for young people.

In addition to serving as a teacher and administrator, Ms. Marino has contributed as a Theater Director, Speech and Debate Coach, Drama Club Sponsor, and Piano Accompanist, demonstrating her commitment to fostering creativity and expression among students.

Ms. Marino is recognized as an expert in curriculum alignment with educational standards and strategic planning. Her professional affiliations include membership in the Illinois Principals Association, the Curriculum Development Leadership Network, and the National Council of Teachers of English. She is also involved with the Illinois Council for Teachers of English, the Illinois Speech and Theater Association, and the West 40 Curriculum Café Network.

Higher education provided a strong foundation for Ms. Marino's instructional leadership and curricular innovation. Her academic background includes a Master of Arts in Theatre Arts Education from Northwestern University in Evanston, earned in 1998, following a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from Rockford College, completed in 1996. Earlier, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education of English from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1992.

Ms. Marino has also pursued additional certifications to better serve diverse learners. She earned a Learning Behavior Specialist I (Special Education) certification from Olivet Nazarene University in 2018. In addition, she holds certifications in Kindergarten through Grade 12 Administration and English as a Second Language from Aurora University, obtained between 2005 and 2012. These credentials have significantly enhanced her teaching practices and informed her leadership approach.

Reflecting on her career, Ms. Marino attributes her professional success to the guidance of inspiring leaders throughout her career as well as her dedication to lifelong learning, a value that continues to shape her contributions to education. She chose this profession out of a desire to help others find satisfaction in learning and personal growth; she finds it deeply rewarding to assist students in overcoming challenges and embracing their understanding of complex issues and ideas.

Beyond her primary responsibilities, Ms. Marino has been active on the advisory panel for transitional English and math courses at Triton College to gain campus portability for high school seniors in those courses. She has also served as an Illinois High School Association Congressional Debate Judge for state tournaments and directed plays and musicals at local park districts, demonstrating broad engagement with civic-minded organizations.

Ms. Marino's achievements have been recognized through notable awards from her respective districts. These include the Ecolab Grant from Minooka High School, the Illinois Arts Alliance Fine Arts Planning Grant from St. Charles Community Unit School District 303, and the Literacy Implementation Grant from Proviso Township High School District 209. She is also known for her creative contributions, including authoring plays and dramatic scenes for student performances and drama class presentations.

Born in Park Ridge, Ms. Marino remains dedicated to inspiring future teachers. She plans to encourage young individuals to consider teaching as a fulfilling profession by mentoring aspiring educators after retirement, highlighting the positive impact they can make on their students and their communities.
