The downturn in oil prices led to the firm's bankruptcy and subsequent layoffs, prompting Mr. Hugentobler to seek new opportunities.

In 2019, Mr. Hugentobler served as a law clerk at The Carey Law Firm, gaining valuable experience in legal research and case preparation. That same year, he was a student legal intern at the Office of the Texas Governor, where he contributed to public policy initiatives and honed his understanding of governmental processes.

During his academic tenure, Mr. Hugentobler held several positions that enriched his legal education and practical skills. Mr. Hugentobler's academic journey began with a bachelor's degree in secondary education from Trinity University in San Antonio in 2013. His initial aspiration was to become a high school or middle school history teacher; however, after encountering challenges during his first year teaching, he redirected his career path toward law.
