KELSEYVILLE, CA, April 28, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Virginia "Ginny" Craven has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Craven has dedicated more than two decades to advancing the mission of Operation Tango Mike Inc., where she has served as the founder and chief executive officer since 2003. Since establishing the nonprofit organization, Ms. Craven has overseen its growth from a grassroots initiative into a vital community organization that has sent more than 29,000 care packages to forward-deployed military personnel. The organization's name, derived from military jargon for "thanks much," reflects its core purpose of expressing gratitude to service members.

In the early years, Ms. Craven managed all operations from her home in Kelseyville, California, storing supplies and coordinating monthly packing sessions with volunteers at a local church. The logistical demands were significant, requiring supplies to be transported back and forth before and after each event. A turning point came when a community member, moved by the support her son received while deployed, arranged for Operation Tango Mike, Inc. to use an empty room at Umpqua Bank (now Columbia Bank) rent-free. This partnership provided stability and allowed the organization to focus on its mission without the burden of constant relocation.

Each month, Ms. Craven organizes a "packing party" on the third Thursday at 6 p.m., where volunteers assemble between 80 and 120 care packages depending on current deployments. The recipient list is built through direct referrals, emails, social media messages, personal contacts and self-referrals from service members who notice others receiving mail. Every individual added to the list receives consistent monthly support for the duration of their deployment.

Ms. Craven's expertise in fundraising and volunteer coordination is evident in her approach to sustaining the organization's operations. She orchestrates a variety of community-based fundraising events, including car shows, breakfasts, seasonal gatherings and entertainment nights. These efforts are complemented by outreach presentations at civic organizations, such as Rotary clubs and Exchange Club meetings, as well as ongoing monthly donations from regular supporters. Ms. Craven's ability to engage volunteers from diverse backgrounds, including veterans, spouses, widows and community members with no direct military connection, has fostered a close-knit team known as the Operation Tango Mike Family.

The organization's impact extends beyond care packages. Ms. Craven is most proud of supporting local families through loss, including assisting three military families with funeral services after their sons were killed in action. She emphasizes the significance of sustained monthly commitment compared to seasonal initiatives and highlights educational fundraisers such as a theater screening of "The Six Triple Eight," which brought attention to an overlooked chapter in military history.

Before founding Operation Tango Mike Inc., Ms. Craven served as a peace officer from 1988 to 2005. Her career began in corrections before she transitioned into probation work, ultimately advancing to senior deputy probation officer in a supervisory role. In this capacity, Ms. Craven managed specialized caseloads involving drug offenders, sex offenders, juvenile offenders, gang-related cases and domestic violence cases within her district. As one of the first armed officers in her department, she played a pivotal role during a period when probation work evolved from social work functions to enforcement-oriented responsibilities.

Ms. Craven's academic foundation was established at California State University, Chico, where she earned a bachelor's degree, cum laude, and graduated Phi Kappa Phi. She worked numerous jobs throughout her studies to complete her education debt-free. This achievement enabled Ms. Craven's entry into law enforcement at a time when a bachelor's degree was required for probation officer roles.

Actively involved in her community, Ms. Craven is a life member of the California Scholarship Federation and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She is also a member of the Patriot Guard Riders. This organization provides a protective presence at military funerals, and is an honorary member of the United Veterans Council and the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association. Ms. Craven's earlier commitments included over a decade as a volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician, during which she served eight terms as the president of the Lucerne Volunteer Firefighters Association.

Ms. Craven's hard work and dedication earned recognition from the Attorney General and professional awards within her law enforcement field. Civically, she received the Friend of the Veteran Award in recognition of her unwavering support for veterans. She was also voted Firefighter of the Year by her peers as the first woman in her department to receive this distinction.

Throughout her career and volunteerism, Ms. Craven has demonstrated exceptional leadership in fundraising and volunteer coordination while maintaining an unwavering commitment to supporting military personnel and their families through sustained community engagement. Eager for the future, she remains focused on strengthening Operation Tango Mike, rather than expanding or franchising it elsewhere. Notably, Ms. Craven has introduced youth involvement programs through local high schools that allow students to fulfill community service requirements by participating in packing events alongside older volunteers, fostering intergenerational connections within the organization. Looking ahead, she also hopes to mentor someone capable of eventually taking over leadership responsibilities for Operation Tango Mike Inc. Still, she acknowledges that finding such a successor remains challenging given the breadth of work involved.
