BOULDER, CO, April 28, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Stephen A. Manydeeds has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Manydeeds currently serves as chief executive officer of Indigene Economics Group, a position he has held since 2023. In this capacity, he is dedicated to helping various tribes access and develop commodities such as artificial intelligence, energy and mineral resources. He advises tribal entities on establishing ventures, offering guidance on leasing, independent development or forming joint ventures with companies. His approach emphasizes presenting the advantages and disadvantages of each option, empowering tribes to make informed decisions that align with their priorities. Additionally, Mr. Manydeeds is an analyst for Indigene Economics Group, where he continues to provide strategic insights and support for tribal economic initiatives.

Before his current roles, Mr. Manydeeds was a program analyst at Flatwater Group in Denver from 2022 to 2023. During his tenure, he contributed to the organization's mission by analyzing programs and supporting projects that benefited Native American communities.

From 2002 to 2022, Mr. Manydeeds served as chief of the Division of Energy and Mineral Development within the Bureau of Indian Affairs. He founded the division with two colleagues and expanded it into six branches encompassing oil and gas, minerals, renewable energy, computer development, land data and business components. Under his leadership, the division grew to approximately 40 employees and 75 contractors. The division achieved $1.6 billion in revenue from leases during his tenure, with renewable energy contributing between $100 million and $150 million, sand and gravel generating about $200 million and oil and gas yielding a profit of around $500 million five years prior to his departure. A significant focus of his work was educating tribes about their resources and options so they could make choices aligned with their values and goals. One of Mr. Manydeeds's most notable achievements was assisting a tribe in developing its sand and gravel resources. This project enabled the tribe to manage the resource independently and secure several federal contracts.

Before leading the division, Mr. Manydeeds worked as a geologist for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. At that time, most Indian reservations lacked the geological data required by law to be provided to tribes. He began by conducting comprehensive literature reviews to compile existing information on entire reservations—a process that spanned several years—before managing teams conducting reconnaissance and geological fieldwork. He later oversaw more detailed studies of areas identified by tribes as potential development sites, ultimately serving as head of the minerals department until about 2005. During this period, mineral income increased significantly from approximately $50 million to $55 million annually at the outset to about $200 million in the 2000s.

Mr. Manydeeds began his career with the U.S. Geological Survey, where he spent three to four years assessing the mineral potential of wilderness areas. This foundational experience provided him with expertise in geological assessment that would prove invaluable throughout his subsequent roles.

Throughout his career, Mr. Manydeeds has remained actively involved in professional organizations. He serves on the board of directors for the American Indian Science and Engineering Society. He is a member of Sigma Gamma Epsilon and the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.

His academic background includes coursework toward a master's degree program in geophysics and a Bachelor of Applied Science in geology and earth science from the University of Wisconsin-Superior, completed in 1975. The knowledge gained through these studies has been instrumental in his ability to assess geological resources and lead complex projects benefiting Native American communities.

Born in Pierre, SD, Mr. Manydeeds credits his parents for their unwavering support throughout his life. His father grew up on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation, earned a master's degree in education—an uncommon achievement among Native Americans at that time—and served in World War II. His mother, whose parents came from Poland and Italy, was a Registered Nurse. Both parents instilled resilience in him by encouraging him to persevere despite discouragement from others who doubted Native Americans' success in higher education.

Initially aspiring to become an electrical engineer after working as a lineman's assistant during summers, Mr. Manydeeds discovered his passion for geology after taking an introductory course in college. The opportunity to work outdoors while engaging in scientific inquiry solidified his commitment to becoming a hard-rock mineral geologist.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Manydeeds has contributed extensively through civic engagement and volunteerism. He is a member of the Carbon Capture Group at the Colorado School of Mines and provides mentoring and pro bono services to various tribes.

His exemplary service has been recognized with multiple Distinguished Service Awards from the U.S. Department of the Interior in 1988 to 1992, 1994 to 1996, 1998, 1999, and 2003 to 2021.

Mr. Manydeeds is devoted to his family and enjoys playing softball, walking dogs, hiking, biking and weightlifting in his leisure time. He is committed to mentoring others and supporting their progress while remaining dedicated to helping tribes thrive and ensuring future generations achieve their goals and follow their passions.

Mr. Manydeeds's career reflects a lifelong dedication to advancing tribal economic development through education, resource management and advocacy, qualities that have established him as a respected leader within his field.
