AURORA, IL, April 29, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Wanda Jones-Nelson has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Jones-Nelson has led a distinguished career of more than 30 years as an author, most recently continuing her work under the moniker Wanda Jones-Nelson, Author. Her journey as a writer began in the early 1990s, when she was inspired by the desire to address the lack of Christian literature for young readers that she observed while working in a bookstore in Tennessee. This realization motivated her to create faith-based books that would nurture and inspire children's spiritual growth.
Ms. Jones-Nelson's earliest published work, "Adventures in God's Little Meadow," was released in 1992 by Carlton Press Inc. Despite facing challenges when the publisher's founders were arrested for embezzlement – leaving uncertainty about her book sales during that period – she persevered and later partnered with Tate Publishing, which recognized her talent and published her works at no cost. During this time, she authored "The Trail Begins" and its sequel "The Haunted Woods," both part of the "Adventure on the Tyler City Trail" series which is set in 1885 Northwest Illinois and mixes fantastical concepts with accessible and moving life lessons about faith and love.
Ms. Jones-Nelson publishes through iUniverse, where she has reissued her earlier titles under new names: "Tyler City Trail Adventures – The Trail Begins" and "Tyler City Trail Adventures – The Haunted Woods." She also co-authored the acclaimed 2014 work "Habititus Fever: Infected With a Desire to Help Others," which was written for Habitat for Humanity and is available through Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity or Amazon.
Ms. Jones-Nelson continues to develop new projects, including an upcoming addition to the "Tyler City Trail Adventures" series titled "The Creator's Call." As she strives to complete these manuscripts for publication, her commitment to and passion for writing remains as steadfast as the day she began her journey.
In addition to her literary accomplishments, Ms. Jones-Nelson is an accomplished piano teacher and musician. Over the course of three decades, she owned and operated Wanda's Piano Studio, sharing her expertise in piano with students of all ages. Her lifelong dedication to music is equally evident in her service as a pianist at every church she has attended. Although she plays less frequently now, music remains a source of great joy for her. She and her family are in the process of building a recording studio at home, which she hopes will reignite her passion for music creation.
Prior to establishing herself as an author and piano teacher, Ms. Jones-Nelson worked as a receptionist at GTE Airfone Ins. – which provided in-flight telephone services before closing due to advancements in cellular technology—from 1989 to 1995. Upon completing her tenure there, she took the opportunity to focus on teaching piano and furthering her writing career.
Ms. Jones-Nelson's academic background includes coursework in corporate communication at Aurora University as well as studies in music theory and composition at Waubonsee Community College. Reflecting on her storied journey to date, she attributes her achievements to her faith in God, believing that she was called to write books that share His message with young readers.
Also known for her longstanding commitment to service and community support, Ms. Jones-Nelson has made monetary donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Shriners Hospitals for Children, is a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association as well as Harvest New Beginnings Church in Oswego, Illinois, and contributed to Habitat for Humanity.
Born in Aurora, Illinois and raised in Batavia Highlands, Illinois, Ms. Jones-Nelson is the proud mother of six sons. Her sons Bryan and Mark, as well as four sons from her husband's previous marriage, Danny, John, Phillip, and Michael. Following the tragic passing of her husband and the sale of her home, she has since relocated to live with Bryan and his wife Shay.
Having spent decades spreading hope and sharing the message of Jesus Christ through her authorship and ministry, Ms. Jones-Nelson aims to further expand the reach of her books so they can help inspire children across communities nationwide. With support from her family—particularly Bryan, who is pursuing careers as a singer-songwriter, biker evangelist and is an ordained minister and her son Michael, who pastors a church on the east coast in Pennsylvania—she envisions their ministry growing steadily through local outreach efforts before expanding into further ministry fields.
Ms. Jones-Nelson's unwavering faith, resilience through adversity and lifelong devotion to writing and music continue to define her legacy as an author and mentor, fueling her dedication to uplifting others through creativity and service.
