GARDEN CITY, NY, April 30, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jeffrey L. Catterson has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Marked by three decades of success in guiding those in need through the complexities of matrimonial and family law, Mr. Catterson currently serves as the co-managing partner of SCL Law Group in New York, a position he has held since 2021. In this capacity, he leads an eight-attorney law firm, managing a dedicated team of support staff and overseeing a broad range of matrimonial and family law cases. He is responsible for cultivating and maintaining the firm's culture and partnerships, ensuring that the organization operates with cohesion and professionalism.
Mr. Catterson's leadership has been pivotal in building a unique cultural environment where most attorneys have advanced from intern positions within the organization — a rarity in the field of matrimonial and family law, where turnover is typically high. His commitment to fostering long-term professional relationships is exemplified by his continued relationships with his partners Michael F. LoFrumento, Amanda L. Carlson and Robin M. Quitko, all of whom began their careers with the firm before rising to partnership roles.
Prior to joining SCL Law Group, Mr. Catterson excelled as a partner at Barnes, Catterson, LoFrumento & Barnes, LLP from 2018 to 2021. During this period, he continued to develop his expertise in matrimonial and family law while further strengthening the collaborative culture that defines his practice. From 2015 to 2017, he served as a partner at Catterson & LoFrumento, LLP, where he played a key role in expanding the firm's client base and reputation for excellence.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Catterson gained valuable leadership experience as a partner at Galasso, Langione, Catterson & LoFrumento, ascending to the role following his tenure as an associate at Galasso & Langione where he began his legal career as an intern during law school — a formative experience that set the foundation for his distinguished legal career.
To share insights and stay at the forefront of best legal practices, Mr. Catterson is an active member of several professional organizations including the Matrimonial Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association and the Suffolk County Bar Association.
Hailing from an equally accomplished academic background, Mr. Catterson earned a Juris Doctor from Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in 1998 and has been admitted to practice law by the New York State Bar Association since 1999.
Reflecting on his storied journey to date, Mr. Catterson attributes his success in the legal realm to maintaining a rigorous work ethic and taking pride in delivering meaningful results for his clients. He emphasizes the importance of thorough preparation and strives to possess comprehensive knowledge of every case he handles — qualities that have earned him respect among his peers and clients alike.
Mr. Catterson's decision to pursue a career in law was inspired by a lifelong aspiration to become an attorney, a goal he articulated as early as Fifth Grade. Growing up in a divorced family fostered his interest in family law and motivated him to help children and families facing similar challenges.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Catterson is civically engaged through involvement with organizations such as the WE CARE Fund, the official charity of the Nassau County Bar Association. His dedication to excellence has been recognized with honors including Excellence in Matrimonial & Family Law from Lawyers of Distinction in 2020 and selection as a Super Lawyer by Thomas Reuters Super Lawyers in 2012 and continuing every year to date.
Happily married and a proud father of two daughters, Mr. Catterson cherishes time spent with his family, enjoys golfing and is an avid Las Vegas Raiders football fan. His wife Susan is a courageous cancer survivor whose transformative health journey has deeply impacted their family dynamic; their eldest daughter Jessica is nearing the completion of her master's degree in epidemiology at Georgetown University and plans to pursue cancer research — a path inspired by her mother's resilience. Meanwhile, their younger daughter Abigail is studying special education at Sacred Heart University, following in her mother's footsteps.
Looking toward the future, Mr. Catterson remains committed to expanding SCL Law Group while upholding its reputation for integrity, teamwork and quality service. He also prioritizes supporting his daughters as they embark on their respective careers and advanced studies, viewing these family milestones as integral to his ongoing journey both professionally and personally.
