Renowned for his longstanding leadership and innovation in the information technology sector, Mr. Colcord is the founder and chief executive officer of Voyager AI, Inc., a company he established in 2025 after developing its foundational research in 2017. With a focus on solving the long-term challenges faced by financial institutions, his work addresses the decline of credit unions and local community banks, aiming to bridge the gap between these smaller entities and larger financial organizations. Under his leadership, Voyager AI creates pathways to simplify infrastructure and achieve cost efficiencies through advanced technology, enabling small financial institutions to automate tasks more efficiently and compete with their larger counterparts.

Alongside the launch Voyager AI, Mr. Colcord served as the senior vice president for data platform engineering at Associated Bank in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from 2024 to 2026. In this role, he built robust data protection initiatives for the regional bank while concurrently advancing his own company's mission. His tenure at Associated Bank was marked by efforts to modernize data systems and enhance stability.

From 2023 to 2024, Mr. Colcord excelled as the director of data analytics, data core and architecture at Thrivent Financial. In recognition of his success in designing advanced data strategies and shortening delivery models to fuel the institution's long-term objectives, he was recognized with a leadership award in 2024.

As head of data and enterprise architecture at Privacera, a California-based startup specializing in data security, Mr. Colcord collaborated with the product team to build a new data platform and enhance the customer experience. His involvement with Privacera began in 2018 when he entered the security field, leading him to explore the startup environment and dedicate approximately five years to advancing data security solutions.

From 2020 to 2022, Mr. Colcord held the position of senior director for core data product engineering at Northwestern Mutual in Milwaukee. Taking over the Unified Data Platform project, whose progress had stalled for several years, he quickly assembled a capable team of experts and laid out short- and long-term targets, successfully launching the new platform after just three months.

Mr. Colcord's seven-year tenure at Fidelity National Information Services, Inc. (FIS) was particularly significant in his career. As the senior director of analytics for Ethos from 2018 to 2020, he played a pivotal role in building a new product called Ethos. This project resulted in the identification of 30 patents related to data analytics platforms, with seven filed and Mr. Colcord listed as a co-inventor on each — an achievement noted by industry leaders. These patents have since been utilized or researched by companies such as EMC, Snowflake and Databricks for their own products.

Earlier in his time at FIS, Mr. Colcord was the director of engineering for data and analytics from 2016 to 2018 and data warehouse technical lead from 2014 to 2016. Another key milestone during these years was his contribution to the company's acquisition of mFoundry, which developed one of the first mobile banking products and held a dominant share of the mobile banking market.

Mr. Colcord's earlier career saw him gain valuable experience as an enterprise data warehouse architect at Corvisa Services from 2013 to 2014; database engineer III at Direct Supply from 2012 to 2013; enterprise data warehouse solutions architect at APS Healthcare from 2011 to 2012; application database administrator, data architect and team lead at IMS Health from 2009 to 2011; web and database administrator at Robert W. Baird from 2002 to 2009; and system administrator at Affinity Internet from 2000 to 2002.

Before entering the civilian workforce, Mr. Colcord began his professional journey with military service as a personal sergeant in the United States Army from 1993 to 1997, followed by service in the United States Army Reserve until 2001. Stationed at Fort Sill in Oklahoma during the initial Gulf War period, he participated in recovery efforts following the Oklahoma City bombing and assisted in hurricane recovery operations in Haiti.

Alongside his primary roles, Mr. Colcord has been an active member of industry organizations including the Spark Advisory Council since 2016 and the Amazon Web Services (AWS) technical community from 2019 to 2022.

Hailing from an equally accomplished academic background, Mr. Colcord earned a Master of Science in management of information systems from Lubar College of Business at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2011, a Bachelor of Science in information systems technologies with a focus on computer science from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 1999, and an Associate of Science in general studies from Austin Peay State University. To augment his knowledge and technical qualifications, he was certified as an AWS developer in 2016 and holds multiple certificates in structured query language (SQL) and database administration from Microsoft.

Also known for his civic-minded contributions, Mr. Colcord has lent his experience as a robotics coach within the Mequon-Thiensville School District since 2023 as well as a coach for First Robotics from 2017 to 2018. He also made an impact on youth development as unit committee chair for Boy Scouts of America Troop 852 from 2018 to 2024. Reflecting on his storied journey to date, he attributes much of his success to learning from others throughout his career; listening carefully to his colleagues' thoughts and insights has been vital in shaping his approach to leadership and innovation.

Leveraging his knowledge to help audiences both locally and around the world, Mr. Colcord has contributed extensively as a presenter and technical reviewer within his field. He has delivered presentations on key topics such as scaling privacy and behavior-driven development testing at major events including Spark Summit and the Big Data Wisconsin Conference, shared insights through interviews with SiliconANGLE and served as a technical reviewer for Manning Books.

Happily married and a proud father of two, Mr. Colcord enjoys spending time with his children, camping and being outdoors as a balance to his professional responsibilities.
